Full-time Hybrid, Victoria BC preferred, Calgary AB and SF

About The Role

You will build and operate the server-side systems that power real-time energy orchestration across connected sites. This role spans Node.js, TypeScript, Python, AWS, deployment, observability, and production reliability. You are here to make architectural decisions, own production quality, and build systems that remain legible under pressure.

What you'll own

• Backend services and cloud systems for orchestration and fleet management
• Architectural decisions around reliability, scalability, and maintainability
• Production deployment, monitoring, alerting, and incident response
• The operational quality of systems running in the field

What you'll bring

• Strong Node.js, TypeScript, and Python experience
• Experience building and operating production systems
• Good AWS judgment across services, infrastructure, and security
• A bias toward debuggable systems: clear logs, metrics, and observability
• High ownership and strong instincts under operational pressure

Nice to have

• Experience with edge/cloud architectures
• Experience with connected hardware or IoT fleets
• Familiarity with time-series data, optimization, or energy systems

What success looks like in the first 6 months

• Core backend systems become more reliable and easier to reason about
• Observability improves materially
• You raise the bar on production ownership and operational discipline

Compensation

Canada: C$90,000 - C$130,000

California: US$130,000 - US$180,000
