Full Time Police Officer
The Borough of Baldwin, Allegheny County, is accepting applications for the position of full-time entry-level police officer through Friday, June 19, 2026 until 3:00 pm at the Municipal Building, 3344 Churchview Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15227.
Baldwin is located 4-7 miles south of the City of Pittsburgh, 5.44 square miles, with a population of approximately 20,000. The department is budgeted for 24 sworn full time officers with a salary range of $78,333.30 (1st year) to $111,904.72 (5th year).
Candidates Must Meet The Following Requirements
- Be at least 21 years of age at the time of application.
- Possess a high school diploma or a graduate equivalency diploma (GED).
- Be a United States citizen.
- Be physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of a police officer.
- Possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license and be eligible to legally operate a motor vehicle in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- Meet either Tier 1, Tier 2 or Tier 3 of the educational/ certification qualifications listed below:
Tier 1 - Currently Act 120 Certified, and have completed a minimum of 4,000 hours as a Police Officer in Pennsylvania, no higher education requirement.
Tier 2 - Be Pennsylvania Act 120 or have successfully completed training and passed the final exam. Successful completion of Act 120 must be achieved prior to the certification of the eligibility listing. Candidate must possess a minimum of an associate degree from an accredited college or university at the time of application.
Tier 3 - Possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university at the time of application.
The physical agility is scheduled for Tuesday, June 30, 2026, to begin at 9:00 AM at the Allegheny County Police Academy, 700 W. Ridge Road, Allison Park, PA 15101. All candidates must arrive prior to 8:45 AM and bring photo ID.
The written examination is scheduled immediately following the physical agility examination for qualified candidates.
The application fee is $50.00. A full refund will be provided to those applicants that appear for the physical agility examination on June 30, 2026 . (Pass or Fail).
The Civil Service Commission anticipates the following schedule for the hiring process:
- Oral Examinations (if qualified) Mid July 2026
- Background Investigations, End of July - September 4, 2026
- Certification of List, Mid-September 2026
- Borough Council may act in October 2026
- A Certified Civil Service list is valid for 1 year. Candidates are encouraged to reapply for future tests.
