Introduction

Our client is seeking a motivated Reliability Specialist to support operational reliability, asset performance, and continuous improvement initiatives within a large industrial facility. This site-based role will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Technical teams to improve equipment reliability, eliminate recurring defects, and drive sustainable operational performance.

The successful candidate will leverage data analysis, reliability engineering principles, and cross-functional collaboration to identify reliability threats, support problem-solving initiatives, and implement solutions that improve plant uptime, asset integrity, and operational efficiency. This role offers the opportunity to influence all aspects of plant operations while developing expertise in reliability engineering and asset management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide frontline reliability support for day-to-day operational and equipment performance issues.
  • Facilitate root cause investigations and problem-solving activities using appropriate reliability and incident investigation methodologies.
  • Conduct bad actor reviews and develop strategies to eliminate repeat equipment and process failures.
  • Analyze operational and maintenance data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for reliability improvement.
  • Develop insights and recommendations using reliability tools and analytical techniques such as Pareto analysis.
  • Support the continuous improvement of asset and equipment care plans.
  • Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Technical teams to improve plant performance and reliability.
  • Support site reliability programs by identifying, prioritizing, and mitigating reliability threats and opportunities.
  • Coach and mentor engineers, technicians, supervisors, and other stakeholders in reliability best practices and problem-solving techniques.
  • Promote a proactive defect elimination culture across the organization.
  • Support the development of reliability reports, presentations, and performance metrics for management and operational stakeholders.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, production, reliability, and asset performance.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement sustainable solutions to technical and operational challenges.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Maintenance Technologists, Reliability Specialists, and asset management professionals with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Up to 5 years of experience within an industrial, manufacturing, processing, energy, mining, petrochemical, or similar operational environment.
  • Strong understanding of reliability engineering principles and methodologies.
  • Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
  • Reliability Block Diagrams (RBD)
  • Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA)
  • Weibull Analysis
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret large data sets and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
  • Experience developing reports, dashboards, presentations, and performance metrics.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Technical teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Strong interest in asset reliability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Eligibility to obtain or maintain Professional Engineering registration is considered an asset.
  • Valid driver's license is considered an asset.
  • Willingness to work in an industrial plant environment, including field inspections and site-based activities.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience within LNG, oil and gas, mining, petrochemical, manufacturing, or heavy industrial operations.
  • Exposure to condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, and asset performance management programs.
  • Experience supporting reliability improvement projects and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Knowledge of CMMS systems and maintenance management processes.
  • Experience facilitating training, coaching, and capability development within operational teams.
