Do you have a deep desire to be instrumental in the surgical patient’s journey? Well, we have the opportunity for you. We are looking for a bright, able-bodied team member to be a Service Attendant in the Surgical Suite at the Grey Nuns OR. Your new role will include transportation, transferring, positioning of patients including patients with a high BMI, and assisting with patient prepping. Bed set up to match the booked cases, room set up with pertinent equipment, stocking supplies/linen, cleaning of OR theatres between cases, maintaining a clean environment outside of the OR theatre including garbage removal. Awareness and compliance of Covenant Health policies/SOPs, and isolation policies/procedures. Please note: Classifications Under Review.

Description: The Attendant supports the department by performing the tasks of stocking, restocking, cleaning, and portering of equipment, supplies, and patients. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 41 Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Completion of Grade 10 required.

Additional Required Qualifications

Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. Experience providing patient care/interaction. Previous hospital portering experience. Physically able to lift up to 40 lbs. Physically able to push, and pull greater than 44 lbs. Physically able to bend, and squat. Must be able to stand/walk for periods extending over 30 minutes at a time. Must be able to lift arms above shoulder height in a static position for period up to 10 minutes or potentially longer. Ability to understand principles and application of infection control. Ability to understand principles and application of basic aseptic technique. Good command of the English language both written and verbal. Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships with patients, operating room staff, and other hospital personnel. Ability to set priorities and work within an environment of multiple competing demands. Ability to be able to work shift and weekends. Ability to wear required PPE including N95 masks.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous operating room experience. Completion of medical terminology. Completion of HSA Course.
