At Ledcor, our highway maintenance teams play a vital role in keeping roadways safe for the travelling public year-round. As a Road Patroller, you will be responsible for monitoring highway conditions, identifying and documenting deficiencies, responding to hazards, and supporting maintenance operations in accordance with contractual performance standards. This role combines independent field work, public safety, data collection, and hands-on maintenance activities.

Essential Responsibilities
- Conduct scheduled highway patrols and inspections in accordance with performance specifications and response requirements
- Monitor, assess, and report highway conditions, roadway hazards, and infrastructure deficiencies
- Identify, document, and track defects using electronic field applications, tablets, and reporting systems
- Respond promptly to incidents, emergency situations, and hazardous conditions that may impact the travelling public
- Complete required inspections of highway assets, including signage, roadway surfaces, lighting, guardrail systems, and other infrastructure
- Perform minor maintenance activities during patrols, including -debris and litter removal, sign straightening and minor repairs, hazard mitigation and cleanup
- Communicate maintenance priorities and defect information to supervisors and operations teams
- Assist maintenance crews with general highway maintenance duties
- Participate in emergency response operations as required
- Promote and maintain Ledcor's commitment to health, safety, and environmental stewardship
Qualifications
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Strong understanding of highway infrastructure, including roadway surfaces, signage, guardrail systems, and related assets.
- Excellent observation skills and attention to detail.
- Experience using tablets, mobile devices, and electronic field-based reporting applications.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and time management skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and road conditions.
Work Conditions
- Work is performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the year.
- Patrollers work assigned shifts based on operational requirements.
- Evening, night shift, weekend, and emergency response work may be required during weather events, emergencies, or changing operational demands.
- Travel throughout designated highway maintenance areas is required.
