Substitute Educational Assistants provide support to students in a variety of school settings on an as-needed basis.

Requirements

• Must be available to work on short notice, Monday through Friday, throughout the school year.
• Must be willing to work with students at all grade levels, providing primarily behavioural support.

Desirable qualifications and attributes

• Preference will be given to applicants with an Educational Assistant Certificate, Social Work Diploma, Rehabilitation Diploma, or to students enrolled in a Bachelor of Education program who have completed at least one year of study.
• Experience and/or education supporting children with complex needs and challenging behaviours is preferred.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to lift and provide toileting assistance and assist with other self-care duties for students from Pre-Kindergarten through high school, as required.
