What You Will Do
The Payroll Specialist will help deliver accurate and timely payroll services for our employees while ensuring compliance with legislative, union, and company requirements. Through your strong attention to detail and customer-focused approach, you will support payroll operations, reporting, and related financial processes that contribute to a positive employee experience.
In This Role, You Can Expect To
- Process weekly payroll accurately and on time, including employee earnings, deductions, taxable benefits, remittances, and reporting requirements.
- Collect, validate, and reconcile employee time and attendance data
- Prepare and submit Records of Employment (ROEs), union reports, pension reports, year-end T4s, and Relevé 1 forms.
- Maintain payroll records and employee files while ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive information
- Support internal and external audits
- Interpret and apply collective agreements, payroll policies, and applicable legislation to support accurate payroll administration
- Prepare payroll-related journal entries and perform reconciliations of payroll and general ledger accounts
- Generate quarterly vacation liability reports and support payroll-related financial reporting activities
- Administer banked time programs for unionized employees and ensure balances are maintained accurately
- Support benefits administration and contribute to annual benefits budget planning activities
- Complete payroll-related billing activities, process deposits, and assist with other accounting and administrative tasks as required
- Act as a trusted resource for employees, managers, and internal stakeholders by responding to payroll-related inquiries and providing exceptional customer service
What You Will Bring
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification completed or actively in progress.
- 3–5 years of payroll experience, with experience in a unionized environment considered an asset.
- Bilingualism in English and French, with the ability to communicate effectively with employees and stakeholders in both languages.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, with a proactive approach and ownership mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work effectively under pressure, and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and payroll information.
- Solid understanding of payroll processes, accounting principles, and financial concepts.
- Hands-on experience with payroll and workforce management systems, including Dayforce, ADP Kronos SAP or similar platforms.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, as well as strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Teams.

The starting range for this role is $70,000 - $80,000 or higher, depending on your experience.
