About The Opportunity
J.E. Anderson & Associates is looking for a full-time Junior or Intermediate Civil Engineering Tech based in Campbell River, BC, to support projects across Central and Northern Vancouver Island and surrounding islands.
With oversite from JEA's partners and management, and reporting directly to the engineering lead in our Campbell River office, you will play a key role in delivering accurate, well-documented civil engineering work, including drafting and design work, calculations, and reports, while supporting with project coordination and other office or project related tasks as needed and as your skills permit.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Civil design, drafting, and calculations work using Civil3D
- Support with project coordination and client communications
- Site reviews and inspections
- Occasional field work, including construction layout and topographic surveys
- Support with proposals, reports, and applications
- Liaising professionally with project managers, contractors, approving authorities, clients, and members of the public
- Occasional travel locally across the region as needed, including projects in the Comox Valley, Port McNeill, Gold River, and nearby islands such as Quadra and Cortes
About You
To qualify, you will need relevant hands-on experience conducting civil engineering work, or a combination of practical experience and post-secondary education in civil engineering.
The Following Are Required
- Proficiency with Civil3D or other AutoCAD software
- A working understanding of civil engineering design and infrastructure projects including: site servicing, stormwater and sewage systems, and road & active transportation design
- A strong understanding of engineering principles, practices, and standards
- Experience completing
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with project managers, colleagues, and clients
- Ability and willingness to travel locally for project needs, including ferry travel to nearby islands
- A valid driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract
Additionally, The Following Skills/attributes And Background Are Highly Valued
- Experience with subdivision design and land development planning
- Ability to interpret construction drawings/plans and direct field crews
- Comfort communicating directly with contractors, developers, approving authorities, and members of the public
