Therapy Assistant-Hearing Screening Aide at Alberta Health Services
The Audiology Team is a dedicated group of Allied Health professionals and support staff committed to the provision of quality hearing health care to our clients and families in the north. We are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Therapy Assistant to join our team in Peace River. Reporting to a supervising audiologist, the successful candidate will support audiology services by assisting with patient care, clinical procedures, and administrative tasks. You will be performing newborn hearing screenings as part of the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) Program or other assigned screenings. Supporting the audiologist during assessments and management of pediatric patients. Managing referrals and triage using the Connect Care system. Maintaining and troubleshooting audiology equipment. Monitoring and ordering clinical supplies as required. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, Alberta Health Services currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist. You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams. You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency. You will have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision.

Required Qualifications
Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with pediatric populations in a Therapy Assistant role. Strong communication skills with children and their families.
Preferred Qualifications
Recent experience conducting infant hearing screenings, following EHDI protocols. Completion of the Alberta Health Services EHDI Hearing Screener Training Program. Experience conducting hearing screenings for preschool or school-aged children under supervision. Connect Care training.
