A publicly listed organization in the natural resources sector is seeking a Manager of Finance to join its finance team. This is an opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to take ownership of core financial processes, support business leaders with meaningful analysis, and help strengthen the organization's accounting operations.

About the Role

Reporting to a senior finance leader, the Manager, Finance will oversee a range of accounting and reporting activities while helping drive improvements across the finance function. You will act as a key financial resource to the broader business, ensuring accounting processes are accurate, well controlled, and aligned with applicable standards and internal policies. The role also provides an opportunity to contribute to projects that improve systems, processes, and the overall effectiveness of the finance team.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities.
  • Oversee the preparation of management reporting and financial statements.
  • Review accounting entries and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy, appropriate controls, and compliance with accounting requirements.
  • Manage accounting activities related to investments, equity, and other complex financial transactions.
  • Review general ledger activity and perform analysis to ensure financial information is complete, accurate, and reliable.
  • Prepare variance analysis and financial summaries to support leadership decision-making.
  • Provide oversight of accounts payable activities, including reconciliations, key controls, and operational performance.
  • Oversee vendor records and help resolve payment or supplier-related issues.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify and improve accounting processes.
  • Partner with finance team members and internal stakeholders to implement, document, and test process and system enhancements.
  • Contribute to special projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and other strategic finance priorities.
  • Serve as a trusted finance partner to leadership by providing clear analysis, recommendations, and financial insight.

What You Bring

  • CPA designation or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting or audit experience.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience with financial reporting and period-end close.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze financial information and communicate meaningful insights to business leaders.
  • Experience overseeing or improving accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Strong understanding of general ledger activities, reconciliations, accounts payable, and financial reporting.
  • Experience with accounting or ERP systems and a strong command of common financial reporting and productivity tools.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A collaborative leadership style and the ability to build credibility across teams.
  • Experience in a complex or regulated industry is an asset.
