Black & McDonald Limited is actively seeking
Health & Safety Onsite Advisor to evaluate & monitor health & safety hazards & develop control strategies for Industrial, Commercial & Institutional Sector job sites. This position will require the successful candidate to work independently and inspect construction, industrial, & commercial (as well as various other) workplaces to ensure compliance with company / client policies & procedures as well as government legislation & industry best practice standards.
This position will require a working knowledge and experience in utilities to ensure an adequate understanding of the unique hazards & challenges our employees face. The successful candidate should be familiar with industry guidelines, ESA Code, TSSA Standards & appropriate CSA standards.
This Exciting Role Provides You With The Opportunity To
- Conduct safety & environmental audits
- Inspect worksites to ensure that equipment & materials do not present a safety or health hazard to employees or to the general public to ensure compliance with Company / Client Policy & Legislation
- Review/perform/complete incident & inspection reports & ensure that corrective action & follow-up is taken
- Review & investigate problems not resolved by site supervisors & contractors
- Ensure that appropriate practices & procedures are provided to supervisory staff and coaching is provided when needed
- Participate in the development and implementation of health & safety programs & strategies
- Participate in the development of safe work practices & job procedures
- Provide consultation & deliver training programs to employees on issues of health & safety
What You Bring
- 3-5 years’ of experience within the HSE related field, specifically on construction sites
- Bachelor's degree or college diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or Environmental Studies or equivalent
- Working knowledge of provincial and federal HSE regulations, programs and standards
- Training in Fall Protection/Working at Heights, First-Aid/CPR, Confined Space, Electrical Awareness, Asbestos Awareness are assets
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, and other HSE databases
- NCSO, CUSP, CRSP designations are assets
- Familiar with industry guidelines, ESA Code, TSSA Standards & appropriate CSA standards
- Ability to recognize hazards as well as advise on appropriate safe work methods
- Ability to understand technical drawings/systems
The expected salary range for this role is between $70,000 - $95,000 per year. The starting salary will be determined based on several factors such as the successful candidate’s qualifications, including but not limited to education, experience and mobility. Base pay is one component of Black & McDonald’s total rewards package. Total rewards vary by position and may include additional offerings such as group insurance benefits, pension plan, annual discretionary bonus, career development programs, and other HR programs.
