Talent Acquisition and Onboarding Specialist Job Posting

As a Talent Acquisition and Onboarding Specialist at Modern Niagara, you will play a key role in supporting managers and business lines throughout the talent search, recruitment, hiring and onboarding processes. This position offers the opportunity to influence and connect with diverse, talented individuals while acting as an ambassador for Modern Niagara from first candidate engagement through a new hire’s early experience with the company.

  • Improve New Hire Experience: Coordinate onboarding activities that help new employees feel informed, supported and ready to contribute.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with People and Culture operations and hiring managers to understand staffing needs and define job requirements
  • Develop and implement effective sourcing strategies using a variety of channels
  • Build a strong pipeline of qualified candidates for current and future needs
  • Manage the full life cycle recruitment process including sourcing, screening, interviewing and negotiating offers
  • Coordinate and support the onboarding process for new hires, including pre-start communication, documentation, orientation scheduling and handoff to managers and People and Culture partners
  • Host weekly new hire orientations to introduce employees to the company, culture, key policies, tools and resources
  • Ensure new hires have a positive onboarding experience by providing timely information, answering questions and helping remove barriers before and after their start date
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date candidate records in the ATS
  • Coordinate and participate in career fairs, coop recruitment and other networking events
  • Ensure the candidate and new hire experience is positive from application to onboarding, maintaining consistent communication and timely feedback
  • Monitor and report on key KPIs to assess effectiveness and identify areas for improvement by using a data driven approach to deliver best practices and optimize
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices in recruitment and employer branding

Must haves

  • 2+ years of full cycle recruitment experience in a high volume, fast-paced environment
  • Experience coordinating onboarding activities or supporting new hire integration in partnership with hiring managers, People and Culture teams or business leaders
  • Proven track record hiring for union and non-union roles specifically within the construction or skilled trades industry
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and provide strategic talent acquisition guidance
  • Strong understanding of employment legislation and collective agreements relevant to construction
  • Evidence of success in building talent pipelines for hard to fill roles

Nice to haves

  • UKG or similar ATS experience
  • Experience with onboarding systems, workflows or employee documentation processes
  • Experience with diversity recruitment strategies
  • Familiar with workforce planning and high-volume recruitment projects
  • Proficiency in LinkedIn recruiter and Boolean search techniques
  • Experience in market mapping the industry

This is a new position. Salary range is $70,000 - $80,000
