The Support and Development Center provide services to Agnico Eagle's various Canadian and / or international mining operations in a variety of areas, including administration, financial services, IT, supply chain, human resources, communications, construction as well as technical services (geology, engineering, metallurgy, infrastructure, marketing, innovation, and digital transformation).
Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Resource Estimation Coordinator of the Geology Department, within the Center for Support and Development (CSD), the Application Specialist related to Geology will act as a technical reference for the use and optimization of various specialized software applications related to geological data, exploration, and mining operations.
In this role, you will support users across Agnico Eagle's various divisions and sites by ensuring the implementation, integration, management, and evolution of corporate tools applied to geology. You will also contribute to the development of innovative solutions and the application of industry best practices to improve process efficiency and data quality.
You will work closely with geology, technology, data management teams, and corporate stakeholders to ensure the success of implementation, training, and user support. Working within Technical Services offers the opportunity to participate in the adoption of new work methodologies and to have a concrete impact on the evolution of geological practices throughout the organization.
During resource and reserve estimation campaigns, you would give occasionally support in the proper execution of processes by providing technical support and ensuring the integrity of the tools and data used. You will also contribute to keeping the department at the forefront of technological advancements and best practices regarding software used in geology.
More Specifically, You Will
- Provide technical support to divisions for geological applications and tools used in operations;
- Participate in the continuous improvement of processes through the development and implementation of new solutions, tools, and innovation initiatives;
- Participate in the implementation, configuration, and integration of corporate tools across the organization's various sites.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation as well as procedures intended for users;
- Act as a trainer and resource person for users to promote the adoption of tools and best practices;
- Participate in validation activities, quality control, and optimization of workflows related to geological data;
- Perform any other related duties as required by the position.
What You Need To Succeed
- Hold a Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in Mining Technology or any other relevant training deemed appropriate;
- Have a minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in the mining industry or other relevant experience deemed appropriate;
- Have work experience in a mining operation is considered a significant asset;
- Knowledge of databases (Access, SQL) and SQL and Python programming languages is considered a significant asset;
- Knowledge of mining software such as Datamine, Leapfrog, Deswik, etc.;
- Have experience with data visualization tools and report creation tools (Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent);
- Have experience in resource estimation and geostatistics is considered an asset;
- Be able to work while meeting established deadlines;
- Be open and available to travel between different divisions;
- Be challenge-oriented and demonstrate versatility;
- Provide quality service focused on active listening, problem-solving, and user satisfaction;
- Apply strong problem-solving skills to investigate and resolve issues related to processes, data, and methodologies;
- Apply a rigorous methodological approach;
- Demonstrate resourcefulness;
- Be proficient in spoken and written French.
- Proficiency in the use of English (oral and written) is an asset as the work will be done in collaboration with other Agnico Eagle sites.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, from Monday to Friday. Possibility of 5-2-4-3 schedule; The candidate may be required to provide technical support outside of normal business hours.
- Workplace: Possibility to work in one of Agnico Eagle's offices closer to your residence in Rouyn-Noranda, Preissac, Val-d'Or, Mirabel, Sudbury or Toronto. There is a possibility to have a hybrid work schedule, working some days from an Agnico Eagle office and some days in telecommuting.
