POSITION SUMMARY
The NACE Level II Coater is responsible for the inspection, application, and quality control of protective coating systems on pipelines, facilities, tanks, structural steel, and related infrastructure. This position ensures coating projects meet client specifications, regulatory requirements, and industry standards through proper surface preparation verification, coating application oversight, and inspection activities. The role requires a strong commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence while supporting pipeline integrity and maintenance programs.

CORE ACCOUNTABILTIES
- Perform coating inspections in accordance with NACE/ASTM/ISO/SSPC/CSA standards, project specifications, and client requirements.
- Verify surface preparation meets required cleanliness and profile standards prior to coating application.
- Monitor environmental conditions to ensure compliance with coating application requirements.
- Inspect and document coating application activities, including dry film thickness, wet film thickness, adhesion, and curing requirements.
- Maintain accurate inspection reports, quality documentation, and project records.
- Identify and communicate coating deficiencies, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
- Ensure coating activities comply with project specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with clients, project management, coating crews, and contractors to achieve project objectives.
- Operate and maintain coating inspection equipment and related tools.
- Participate in hazard assessments, toolbox meetings, and job safety analyses.
- Report and document safety incidents, quality concerns, and operational issues.
- Assist in the development and implementation of quality assurance and quality control processes.
- Support project schedules through effective planning and execution of assigned work.
- Travel to various project locations and work in field environments as required.
- Endeavor to achieve Strike’s safety, quality, and operational goals.
- Knowledge and ability to apply various Field Coating systems such as:
- Denso Protal 7200 and 7125
- SPC SP-4888
- Denso Densyl tape system
- Stopaq CZH/CZHT systems
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- NACE Coating Inspector Level II Certification required.
- Additional coating, inspection, or quality-related certifications considered an asset.
Experience
- Experience working on pipeline and energy infrastructure projects.
- Experience interpreting coating specifications, inspection procedures, and quality requirements.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
- Strong knowledge of coating inspection methods, surface preparation standards, and protective coating systems.
- Working knowledge of NACE, SSPC, and applicable industry standards.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Excellent organizational, documentation, and reporting skills.
- Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve coating quality issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Will be required to travel.
