Project Engineer at INVISTA
Your Job
We are seeking a Project Engineer to support a portfolio of capital projects across multiple manufacturing locations in North America and Europe. This role will contribute to projects typically ranging from approximately $250M to $1MM in value, supporting project development and execution from early planning through implementation.
This role is intended as a developmental pathway into future Project Manager opportunities. The successful candidate will gain exposure to project leadership, stakeholder engagement, engineering development, and capital project execution across multiple manufacturing facilities, providing a strong foundation for long-term growth within Project Capability and across INVISTA.
Our Team
You will join INVISTA's Project Capability organization, which supports manufacturing facilities in Kingston, Ontario; Seaford, Delaware; Camden, South Carolina; and Rozenburg, Netherlands. The team is made up of Project Managers and Project Engineers who work collaboratively with site and business stakeholders to deliver capital improvements that enhance safety, reliability, and business performance.
This is an onsite position located in Kingston, Ontario. Team members are regionally based and travel as needed to support project execution across the sites, with travel up to 25% depending on project requirements.
What You Will Do In Your Role
- Manage multiple small projects and activities in parallel, actively progressing each toward completion using a phased project execution framework.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for 3rd party engineering partners, coordinating deliverables and maintaining technical standards.
- Apply multi-discipline technical understanding to develop engineering deliverables and scopes of work to the required technical standard.
- Right-size project deliverables using critical thinking and the Business team approach to ensure the best knowledge informs all decisions.
- Coordinate and interface across diverse working teams and functions, maintaining proactive and effective communication with all stakeholders.
- Oversee and coordinate IFD documentation reviews.
- Partner with the site Document Control representative to ensure adherence to best practice.
- Continuously seek new ways to strengthen the team's execution strategies and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Communicate project status and engineering progress to various stakeholders within the organization.
- Build capability in project planning, scheduling, cost management, and stakeholder engagement while supporting a portfolio of capital projects.
- Project execution and turnarounds may require weekend and evening hours for project support.
- Physical requirements include climbing ladders/stairs to elevated platforms.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- 3+ years of experience in engineering within a project or industrial environment.
- Previous experience working on multiple concurrent projects or activities.
- Demonstrated ability to develop technical scopes of work and engineering deliverables.
- Experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to align priorities, coordinate activities, and achieve project objectives.
- Previous experience using MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship or immigration support.
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally up to 25%
What Will Put You Ahead
- Mechanical or Electrical Engineer with project and/or design experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Understanding of project controls, FEL development, and project execution frameworks.
- 5+ years of engineering or project experience.
- Experience with engineering document control and IFD review processes.
- Familiarity with project management tools such as SAP, Smartsheet, Ecosys, or Power BI.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
For this role, we anticipate paying a base salary of $80,000 to $130,000 CAD per year. This position is also eligible for variable compensation, which may be paid as a bonus or in another form.
