PetroChina Canada is recruiting for a Pipeline Technical Lead to join the LNG Team in Calgary.
Reporting to the General Manager, LNG, the Pipeline Technical Lead will act as a member of PetroChina Canada’s (PCC) LNG Asset governance team, understanding project associated agreements and company requirements, governing third party project management and operation, coordinating with other Joint Venture Partners (JVPs), with a focus on ensuring that the Coastal GasLink (CGL) pipeline projects are planned, executed, and operated per company approved plans. This role is responsible for safeguarding PCC’s investment interests in LNG Canada associated pipeline projects.
The accountabilities of this role include but are not limited to:
- Prepare for and participate in internal and external Pipeline related meetings, represent PCC’s requirements and report back to the team
- Review project documents and agreements, interpret and brief to management with analysis and recommendations, and ensure company’s requirements are reflected in final documents
- Coordinate with internal function departments to complete required governance work
- Support LNG Canada project, focusing on project governance of CGL Pipeline through development, execution and operating phases
- Understand the project commercial model, rights and obligations of key project agreements such as Project Development Agreement and Transportation Services Agreement for Coast GasLink Pipeline and effectively safeguard the rights and interests of PCC
- Participate in daily governance activities of LNGC project, attend various external and internal meetings through platforms such as the JVP Pipeline Subcommittee and working group meetings
- Support PCC LNG Asset General Manager and key functional departments, providing pipeline engineering, construction and operations knowledge and analysis related to engineering, execution, schedule and cost, and establish effective communication with PCC LNG Asset GM and key functional departments
- Establish effective communication and contact with PCC affiliates companies, Joint Venture Partners, and CGL, and understand the positions and opinions of other JVPs on LNGC and CGL related matters
- Provide support and prepare Headquarters reports on a regular basis
- Complete other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering with P.Eng status
- PMP designation preferred
- 10 years’ midstream oil and gas project governance/management experience, with understanding of associated operating and commercial model in Canada
- Large pipeline and compression projects experience
- Demonstrate superior verbal and written communication, particularly the ability to summarize complex situations in concise yet complete manner
- Flexible and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities; capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment
- Strong hands-on capability to provide high level technical recommendations independent of disciplines support for pipeline related matters
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment with a team work mentality and build effective working relationship with internal function departments and JVPs
- Ability to speak and write in Mandarin an asset
- Legally able to work in Canada
- Adoption and demonstration of PCC Values (Honorable, Unified, Passionate, Accountable)
