Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and production release of advanced optical transceiver products. This is a highly visible role offering technical ownership, cross-functional collaboration, and the opportunity to mentor other engineers while driving cutting-edge hardware from concept to production.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and validation of high-speed optical hardware.
• Own product development from concept through production release.
• Develop mechanical and thermal architectures for complex electronic products.
• Drive design reviews, solve challenging technical problems, and influence product direction.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, manufacturing partners, and suppliers.
• Mentor and support junior engineers.

Essential Skills

• 7+ years of mechanical design and product development experience.
• Expertise in the mechanical design of high-density electronic enclosures, including PCB packaging, thermal management, and manufacturability considerations
• Proven experience bringing products into high volume production.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Expertise in DFM, tolerance analysis, thermal design, and FEA.
• Strong SolidWorks or CREO CAD experience.
• Experience with optical transceivers, optical modules, networking hardware, or similar products is highly preferred

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ottawa, ON.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
