As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Revenue Accountant, to join our team.
About the role
The Revenue Accountant performs the day-to-day accounting, reconciliation, billing validation, and reporting activities required to ensure revenue is accurately recorded, appropriately supported, and reported in the correct period. The role maintains revenue schedules, investigates differences between operational and accounting systems, and works with internal teams to resolve missing information, billing exceptions, and revenue-related issues.

What you will do
- Prepare and maintain revenue schedules for managed services, professional services, projects, hardware, non-cloud software, cloud licensing, block-of-time arrangements, customer deposits, and other revenue streams.
- Validate customer contracts, sales orders, statements of work, purchase orders, billing terms, quantities, pricing, delivery evidence, approvals, and other supporting documentation before accounting or billing is completed.
- Record revenue, deferrals, accruals, reclassifications, and other approved revenue journal entries in the appropriate period.
- Support the preparation and review of invoices, billing adjustments, credit notes, and customer down-payment transactions in accordance with approved processes.
- Complete monthly reconciliations for revenue, unearned revenue, deferred revenue, accrued revenue, unbilled revenue, work in progress, customer deposits, and related accounts.
- Reconcile ConnectWise billing and operational reports to the accounting system and investigate differences promptly.
- Maintain detailed continuity schedules, supporting files, and explanations for reconciling items.
- Assist with revenue cut-off procedures and ensure transactions are recorded in the correct accounting period.
- Follow up on missing purchase orders, customer approvals, project status, time entries, product delivery, agreement changes, and other items affecting billing or revenue recognition.
- Work with Sales, Operations, Project Delivery, Procurement, Service Delivery, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable to resolve discrepancies.
- Monitor aged unbilled items, deferred balances, WIP, and excluded or failed transactions, and escalate unresolved matters to the Senior Revenue Accountant.
- Prepare recurring revenue reports, variance explanations, management schedules, and audit-ready supporting documentation.
- Follow established policies, approval matrices, procedures, and internal controls, and contribute to process and system improvements.
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including revenue accounting, project accounting, contract accounting, billing, financial reporting, or a related area.
- Understanding of revenue, deferred revenue, accruals, reconciliations, cut-off, and supporting documentation.
- Experience in an MSP, technology, project-based, or recurring-revenue environment is an asset.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and experience with an ERP/accounting system; ConnectWise experience is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, follow-up, and communication skills.
- CPA designation or CPA candidacy is an asset.
