Pricing Analyst at The Fastener Group Ltd.
Job Overview
We are seeking a Pricing Analyst to join our team and help drive strategic, data-informed pricing decisions across our fastener and industrial component product lines. In this role, you will analyze cost structures, margins, market trends, and competitive pricing to develop pricing strategies that balance profitability with market competitiveness.
Working closely with the Sales, Purchasing, and Finance teams, you will ensure pricing decisions align with both customer expectations and business objectives. You will also leverage advanced Excel and data analysis tools to support pricing initiatives, improve reporting processes, and provide actionable insights. This position reports directly to the Manager, Pricing.
This is a mid-level role best suited for a candidate with hands-on experience in pricing analysis, cost analysis, or revenue management, ideally within an industrial distribution, manufacturing, wholesale, or other B2B environment. The successful candidate will be highly analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with large data sets to support business decision-making in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Monitor vendor cost changes, commodity trends (steel, raw materials), and freight/tariff impacts, and adjust pricing models accordingly.
- Conduct competitive pricing analysis within the fastener and industrial distribution market to identify opportunities and risks.
- Build and maintain pricing models, price books, and matrices used by the sales team for quoting.
- Partner with sales on customer-specific and contract pricing within our pricing framework.
- Track pricing performance and margin trends, flagging anomalies or erosion for leadership review.
- Support price list updates, including communication of changes to internal teams and customers.
- Collaborate with purchasing/procurement to align pricing strategy with cost changes and inventory positioning.
- Prepare regular reporting and dashboards on pricing, margin, and profitability metrics for leadership.
- Assist in developing pricing policies and approval workflows aligned with our pricing model.
- Build and maintain Python scripts/tools to automate pricing calculations, data cleanup, and recurring reporting.
Qualifications
- 2-5 years of experience in pricing analysis, cost analysis, or a related financial/analytical role — experience in fastener, industrial distribution, or manufacturing industries strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advanced Excel proficiency is required, including expertise with complex formulas, pivot tables, lookups, data analysis, and large/complex workbooks. This is a core requirement for the role.
- Working knowledge of Python is required for automating pricing calculations, data cleansing, reporting, and workflow optimization.
- Strong understanding of pricing methodologies, including margin analysis, cost-plus pricing, list-less pricing, and competitive pricing strategies.
- Experience working with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Epicor, SAP, Infor, or similar platforms is considered an asset.
- Proven ability to analyze large data sets and translate findings into clear, actionable business recommendations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across sales, purchasing, finance, and other cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with a strong understanding of the business impact of pricing decisions and errors.
- Highly organized self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced distribution environment.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with fastener product categories, including bolts, nuts, screws, washers, specialty fasteners, or similar industrial/MRO products.
- Experience with SQL, Power BI, or other data analysis and visualization tools.
- Experience applying Python to data analysis, reporting automation, and process improvement initiatives.
- Previous experience supporting pricing, sales, purchasing, or supply chain functions within a distribution or manufacturing environment.
