JOB SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the Warehouse Manager, the role of the Machine Operator is to select full case orders from bulk storage racking (hi‐bay), as designated on SanMar Canada PICK sheets while operating moving machinery at heights of 20 plus feet. The Machine Operator is also responsible for ensuring sufficient product is supplied to lowbay picking bins, via auto‐replenishing tags, ensuring customer orders can be completed within time guidelines as outlined below.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Must be an experienced, accurate and high‐volume picker with excellent product knowledge
  • Able to safely operate Narrow Aisle Order Picker and Reach Truck forklift
  • Good working knowledge of all warehouse area systems and functions including RF components
  • Able to work with minimum supervision, organized, reliable
  • Self‐starter and team player

Working Conditions

  • 40 hours per week; occasional overtime required
  • Ability to safely handle cases up to 70lbs from upper levels of racks.
  • Bending, lifting, pulling and stretching required throughout the day
  • Must wear CSA approved safety footwear with protective steel toes and other personal protective equipment as required
  • Use of ladder

Job Responsibilities

  • Must strive to achieve or exceed high‐bay picking accuracy targets (KPIs)
  • Ensure Auto‐tags are fully processed within 30‐minute objective
  • Ensure high‐bay orders are fully processed within 45‐minute objective
  • Complete high‐bay orders to meet daily cut off deadlines
  • Perform high and mid‐bay location maintenance (deletions/additions using RF scanner) to meet minimum accuracy standards
  • Perform put away for inbound operations
  • Participate in inventory cycle count program
  • Perform daily check on machines and battery fluid levels
  • Report any and all equipment problems to Supervisor
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards in work areas of direct responsibility
  • Understanding of Inventory screens and reservation system
  • Stage completed high‐bay orders in shipping area
  • Ensure staged orders have supplier labels facing outwards to expedite checking
  • Organize workload to ensure all areas meet deadlines
  • Report any case lot deficiencies to Inventory Control
  • Inform shippers of completed orders awaiting accuracy checks
  • Adhere to current and future company policies and standards to ensure a safe and agreeable working environment
  • Assist in other areas of the Warehouse department and additional duties as required by management

  • Actively participate in process analysis and improvement activities
  • Participates in general warehouse meetings
  • Work in cooperation and communicate effectively with all levels of the SanMar Canada team
  • Keep co‐workers informed of activities that have implications to their department
  • Openly communicate any successes, concerns, or problems related to the job
