Senior Software Product Designer at Haply Robotics
We are hiring a Senior Software Product Designer to join our growing team in Montréal. This is a chance to shape how creatives and experts interact with serious, precision hardware — owning the software experience from a user's very first onboarding all the way through to daily, maximized productivity.
About Haply
Haply Robotics builds the world's most precise haptic devices. Our products (Inverse3, VerseGrip, MinVerse, Haply Hub, HARP) are deployed across research labs, industrial integration projects, and production environments where the difference between "good" and "right" is measured in milliseconds and millinewtons. As robots and autonomous systems become more capable, humans still need intuitive ways to teach, guide, and supervise physical tasks. Haply builds the platform that allows people to program and train machines through touch and motion.
Since 2018, we've developed precision haptic controllers, that let people and machines feel and respond to the physical world with microscopic precision. We've raised over $20 million CAD in funding from a group of leading venture capital and strategic investors, and we're partnering with organizations across robotics and industrial automation to bring intuitive touch and control into physical AI systems. We're working toward becoming a leading, privately-valued company right here in Canada, building an ecosystem where the people who join us early get to be part of something with real venture-scale upside, with our sights set on a large exit or IPO as physical AI converges with the massive wave of capital and attention now being poured into it.
About the Role
As a Senior Software Product Designer, you'll own the end-to-end design of Haply's software user experience, from initial onboarding and discovery through learning and maximized productivity. You'll take ideas from early concepts to shipped interfaces and work closely with software and manufacturing design teams to create clear, intentional experiences for creatives and experts operating serious hardware.
What You'll Do
- Own the end-to-end design of Haply software User Experience, from the initial onboarding, through discovery and learning, to maximized productivity.
- Take a rough idea to a shipped interface: wireframes, prototypes, and the detailed work that makes it feel intentional.
- Design for creatives and experts operating serious hardware, where clarity usually beats decoration.
- Partner closely with full-stack software and manufacturing design teams through implementation, not just handoff.
- Build and maintain a design system that scales as the surfaces multiply, and guide Haply's development team in delivering experience excellence.
- Know the difference between shipped and right, and have the conviction to close that gap before calling something done.
- Collaborate with the R&D department on user research, user experimentation, and learning samples.
- Own the User Experience product requirements of Haply's software stack.
- Own the User Experience quality bar for what Haply ships, and the judgment call on when something isn't there yet.
- Ship a v1 design system plus a measurable and significant onboarding speedup improvement.
- Establish a User Satisfaction baseline (method + number), then set and hit a concrete target for it by month 6.
Must Have
- 5+ years of product design experience, some on complex or technical software.
- Portfolio showing range, from early concept to shipped, polished detail.
- Comfort working closely with engineers day to day.
- Strong visual and interaction design fundamentals.
- Portfolio evidence of shipped work, not just concept work.
- A portfolio showing work they went back and fixed once it was live, rather than work that was shipped
and forgotten.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with design-to-code workflows, design tokens, or component libraries.
- Experience designing for digital content creation, in relation or with hardware or robotics products.
- Bilingual French/English.
What We're Looking For
- Has experienced a time when they redid their own work unprompted because it wasn't good enough.
- Known as the person who raised the bar on a team rather than just met it.
- Self-critiques without being told to, which matters since some days there's no one else in the room to do it for them.
- Background designing for technical or operator-facing tools, not just consumer apps.
