Manager, Commercial Cards Sales at ATB Financial

Date: 6 hours ago
City: Calgary, AB
Contract type: Full time

At ATB, we exist to make it possible for our clients, team members and communities. Our purpose is more than aspirational. It's a real commitment we live every day through our values (what we call the ATB ID).

About

Life at ATB is about more than work. In fact, we’re consistently recognized as one of Canada's top employers thanks to our high-care, high-performance culture, upheld by the three commitments we make to our team members:

Impact in action: No matter where you are in the organization, you're empowered to make an impact in the lives of our clients and communities.

Ready for tomorrow: We want to enable your success through interesting and challenging work, performance enablement, and learning and development.

About The Role

Hybrid: You’ll work both remote and onsite, where time onsite is based on your job accountabilities and performance objectives.

As ATB’s next Manager, Commercial Cards Sales

Reporting to the Managing Director, Complex Product & Technical Sales, you will play a central role in growing commercial card revenue within ATB’s mid-market business sector. This position focuses on driving revenue through high-volume, transactional sales cycles—helping small-to-mid-market companies streamline accounts payable and optimize working capital. Rather than long, multi-year strategic campaigns, you will focus on active prospecting, rapid sales execution, and delivering standard commercial card, purchasing card (P-Card), and USD Card solutions directly to business owners, CFOs, and finance teams.

Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities

  • Drive Revenue & Deal Volume: Meet and exceed quarterly revenue targets by actively prospecting, qualifying, and closing small to mid-market commercial card opportunities.
  • Pipeline & Prospecting: Build a strong pipeline of mid-market prospects through targeted cold outreach, regional networking, and internal referrals from ATB Business Banking partners.
  • Consultative Selling: Conduct efficient discoveries with key decision-makers (CFOs, Controllers, Treasurers) to present tailored card and AP solutions that improve working capital and cash conversion cycles.
  • Fast-Paced Sales Execution: Manage short-to-medium sales cycles from initial outreach through negotiation, closing, and seamless handoff to implementation teams.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal commercial banking, branch network, and operations teams to drive referral flow and ensure smooth customer onboarding.
  • Market Knowledge: Maintain a solid understanding of commercial payments, working capital principles, competitor offerings, and basic card technology trends.

Skills, Experience & Requirements

What you bring:

  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in business banking with direct commercial card sales experience.
  • Education: University degree in business (finance, economics, or related field) or equivalent experience. A CTP (Certified Treasury Professional) Designation is an asset.
  • Product Knowledge: Deep understanding of commercial credit card products, services, and the competitive landscape, including working capital management principles and how commercial cards optimize the cash conversion cycle.
  • Executional expertise: Exceptional sales, negotiation, and presentation skills with the ability to articulate working capital benefits and present complex issues effectively to executive leaders (President, CEO, CFO), Boards, and Associations.
  • Communication excellence: Proven ability to build strong relationships as an excellent connector of people and ideas, influencing broad stakeholders to deliver complex financial solutions.
  • Advisory mindset: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to leverage data to drive decisions and understand its impact on clients' cash conversion cycles.
  • Teamwork: Demonstrated growth mindset with the ability to influence and impact teammates.
  • Administration: Strong organizational and project management skills (planning, prioritization, execution).

Don’t meet all the requirements on the list?

A resume only goes so far in expressing who you are and the unique perspectives you bring. If you believe your skills and experience align with the role—but you might not check all the boxes—we want to hear from you. We encourage candidates from all work backgrounds, equity-seeking communities and experience levels to apply. If you’re seeking a career where your drive, perspective and growth are celebrated, we want to hear from you.

We’re dedicated to building a workforce reflective of those within our communities, and a culture where our team members are equipped with what they need to succeed—their way. Part of creating an inclusive workplace is recognizing our role in advancing Truth and Reconciliation. We are committed to meeting and exceeding the standards set out in the Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations program created by the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business.
