Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Advisor
Location: Calgary AB. Travel to Western Canada – Alberta, Saskatchewan & Manitoba
Travel: Frequent regional travel required
About The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Advisor to support multiple operations across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.
This is a highly visible role for a safety professional who enjoys partnering with operational leaders, influencing safety culture, and driving practical improvements across multiple locations. You will provide regulatory guidance, conduct audits and inspections, lead incident-management activities, support COR compliance, deliver training, and help strengthen overall HSE performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary HSE resource for assigned branches and operational teams.
- Coach leaders and employees on hazard identification, risk assessment, regulatory compliance, and incident prevention.
- Conduct workplace, facility, vehicle, equipment, and field inspections and audits.
- Support internal and external COR audits, corrective actions, and ongoing audit readiness.
- Lead or support incident investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and near-miss reviews.
- Assist with WCB claims, return-to-work, and modified-work programs.
- Deliver safety orientations, toolbox talks, and classroom, virtual, or field-based training.
- Support Joint Health & Safety Committees and employee safety initiatives.
- Manage contractor and client compliance requirements using platforms such as Avetta, ISNetworld, ComplyWorks, and ContractorCheck.
- Analyze safety trends, metrics, audit findings, and performance indicators to identify improvement opportunities.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety preferred.
- 3–5+ years of progressive HSE experience, ideally supporting multiple locations.
- Strong knowledge of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba OHS legislation.
- Experience with inspections, audits, investigations, COR programs, and contractor compliance systems.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and ability to travel frequently.
CRSP/CRST, ACSA COR Auditor certification, WCB experience, and construction, transportation, or traffic-control industry experience are strong assets.
