About Cavtera

Cavtera builds digital solutions that connect real-world operations with data, software, and decision-making. We work closely with clients to understand how their businesses operate on the ground, then translate those workflows into scalable applications and data systems using Palantir Foundry.

Our team operates with the pace, ownership, and adaptability of a startup while solving complex operational problems for established businesses. We work directly alongside our clients, from the field to the executive level, to build technology that delivers measurable improvements to how their businesses operate.

The Role

We’re looking for an IT Systems Administrator to own and evolve Cavtera’s internal IT environment as our team continues to grow. You’ll be our primary internal IT resource, responsible for the day-to-day technology experience of our team as well as the systems and standards that allow us to scale.

This is a hands-on role with significant ownership. You’ll manage our Google Workspace environment, device management through Hexnode, employee hardware procurement and deployment, office networking, account provisioning, security controls, and general IT support. You’ll also help establish the policies, documentation, and automation needed to support a team expected to grow significantly over the next few years.

We’re looking for someone with enough experience to independently manage a small company’s IT environment, but who is equally excited by the opportunity to learn, take on new technologies, and build more sophisticated IT capabilities as Cavtera grows.

This is a strong fit for someone who enjoys being a generalist, solving problems independently, improving systems rather than simply maintaining them, and taking ownership of the technology environment people depend on every day.

What You'll Do

  • Co-Own Google Workspace administration: Manage users, groups, organizational units, permissions, security settings, authentication policies, Gmail, Drive, Calendar, and other Google Workspace services along with the Director of Technology.
  • Manage endpoint devices: Administer Cavtera’s MDM environment using Hexnode, including device enrollment, configuration profiles, security policies, software deployment, compliance, and device lifecycle management.
  • Own hardware procurement and deployment: Coordinate the purchasing, inventory, configuration, and deployment of employee hardware, with a particular focus on Apple devices (laptops and mobile) and related accessories.
  • Manage employee onboarding and offboarding: Provision and deprovision accounts, devices, applications, permissions, and access so employees can become productive quickly while maintaining appropriate security controls.
  • Support our team: Act as the primary point of contact for internal IT issues, troubleshooting hardware, software, account, connectivity, and access problems across the organization.
  • Own office networking: Manage and troubleshoot Cavtera’s office networking environment, including Wi-Fi, switching, internet connectivity, network hardware, segmentation, and related infrastructure.
  • Manage SaaS access: Help administer the applications and services used across Cavtera, including user provisioning, permissions, licensing, SSO, and access management.
  • Strengthen security: Implement and maintain practical IT security controls across identities, endpoints, applications, and networks, including MFA, device compliance, access policies, and security best practices.
  • Build scalable IT processes: Develop repeatable processes for onboarding, offboarding, device deployment, access requests, hardware inventory, software management, and other recurring IT activities.
  • Automate where possible: Identify repetitive IT tasks that can be automated or standardized to support a growing organization without creating unnecessary administrative overhead.
  • Maintain documentation: Create and maintain clear internal documentation, inventories, diagrams, standards, and SOPs so Cavtera’s IT environment remains understandable and maintainable as it grows.
  • Plan for growth: Proactively identify where our current tools, infrastructure, security practices, or processes will need to evolve as Cavtera grows from approximately 30 employees to 100 and beyond.
  • Own problems end to end: Investigate unfamiliar issues, work with vendors and service providers when necessary, and take responsibility for getting problems resolved rather than simply escalating them.

What We're Looking For

  • Approximately 4-8 years of professional experience in IT administration, systems administration, IT operations, or a similar role.
  • Experience independently supporting the technology needs of a small or growing organization.
  • Strong experience administering Google Workspace, including users, groups, permissions, security settings, and core Workspace services.
  • Experience with Mobile Device Management or endpoint management platforms such as Hexnode, Jamf, Kandji, Intune, or similar.
  • Strong familiarity with macOS and supporting Apple hardware in a business environment.
  • Experience procuring, configuring, deploying, maintaining, and decommissioning employee computers and related hardware.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including Wi-Fi, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, firewalls, switching, and troubleshooting connectivity issues.
  • Experience with identity and access management concepts including SSO, MFA, role-based access, and user lifecycle management.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to independently work through unfamiliar technical problems.
  • A security-conscious mindset and an understanding of practical endpoint, identity, account, and network security.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly when managing accounts, permissions, hardware, licenses, and employee onboarding/offboarding.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to support users with varying levels of technical proficiency.
  • A high degree of autonomy and ownership – you are comfortable being the person responsible for making sure the company’s day-to-day IT environment works.
  • A desire to continuously learn and expand your skills as Cavtera’s technology, security, infrastructure, and organizational needs evolve.

Nice To Have

  • Experience administering Hexnode.
  • Experience managing Apple devices using Apple Business Manager.
  • Experience configuring and managing enterprise Wi-Fi, switches, firewalls, or other network infrastructure.
  • Experience with Google Workspace security and administration at an advanced level.
  • Experience implementing or managing SSO and identity providers.
  • Familiarity with SaaS management, automated user provisioning, SCIM, or access governance.
  • Experience supporting an organization through a period of rapid headcount growth.
  • Experience establishing IT policies, standards, and operating procedures from the ground up.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks or controls such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, or similar.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Familiarity with scripting or automation using tools such as Python, Bash, APIs, or workflow automation platforms.
  • Experience managing IT vendors, purchasing, licensing, warranties, or technology budgets.
