Jr HR Generalist

  • Home Instead - Windsor-Essex
  • Location: 1071 Lesperance Road, Tecumseh, ON
  • Salary: $45,000-$55,000 per year
  • Schedule: Tuesday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; Saturday, 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. (1 hour paid lunch daily)

  • Our Care Professionals provide personalized support ranging from companionship and personal care to meal preparation, respite care, dementia support, and 24-hour care. Our team takes pride in building meaningful relationships with the seniors and families we serve.
  • We are looking for a Junior HR Generalist to join our Tecumseh office and become an important part of the team behind our Care Professionals.

About the Role

  • This is a hands-on HR position with a strong focus on recruitment and onboarding.
  • You will play a key role in helping us attract, select, and onboard compassionate and dependable Care Professionals who are committed to making a difference in the lives of seniors.
  • You will work closely with candidates, new hires, employees, and management while supporting the day-to-day HR needs of our growing team.
  • This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has completed post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related field, or has approximately one year of HR experience, and is looking to build a career in a people-focused organization.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Hiring

  • Manage the day-to-day recruitment process for Care Professionals and other positions.
  • Create and post job advertisements on Indeed and other recruitment platforms.
  • Review resumes and applications and conduct initial candidate screening.
  • Schedule and participate in candidate interviews.
  • Communicate with candidates throughout the recruitment process and provide a positive candidate experience.
  • Coordinate reference checks, background checks, and other pre-employment requirements.
  • Maintain accurate recruitment records and candidate information.
  • Work with management to identify staffing needs and recruitment priorities.
  • Help ensure we maintain a strong pipeline of qualified Care Professional candidates.

Onboarding

  • Coordinate the onboarding process from offer acceptance through the employee's first day and beyond.
  • Prepare employment documentation, onboarding packages, and employee files.
  • Ensure required forms, references, certifications, and other documentation are completed accurately.
  • Coordinate new employee orientation and introduction to Home Instead policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Help new Care Professionals understand their role, responsibilities, and the importance of providing compassionate, relationship-based care.
  • Follow up with new employees to support a smooth transition into their roles.

HR Administration & Employee Support

  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.
  • Assist employees with general HR questions and direct more complex matters to management when appropriate.
  • Assist with employee documentation, attendance, vacation, and other HR-related processes.
  • Support employee offboarding and exit procedures.
  • Assist with maintaining HR policies, procedures, and forms.
  • Prepare basic HR reports and maintain recruitment and employee tracking spreadsheets.
  • Support employee engagement and team initiatives.
  • Assist management with various HR projects and administrative duties as required.
  • Handle sensitive employee and candidate information with professionalism and discretion.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field OR approximately 1 year of HR/recruitment experience.
  • Previous recruitment, interviewing, or onboarding experience is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Professional, friendly, and approachable personality.
  • Comfortable speaking with candidates and employees by phone, email, and in person.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Experience with Indeed, HRIS systems, or applicant tracking systems is an asset.
  • Previous experience in healthcare, home care, staffing, or a service-based environment is an asset.
