Job Title: CNC Machinist (Experienced – Setup & Operation)
LOCATION: 60 Regal Rd. Guelph, ON N1K 1B5
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CNC Machinist with strong setup and operational experience. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC mills and lathes to produce precision metal parts and components in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes to produce precision parts according to blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications on new and existing products
- Achieve set up times and cycle times outlined
- Ability to set up and run critical operations and tight tolerances
- Select, install, and adjust tooling, fixtures, and machine parameters for efficient production.
- Perform initial part inspections (First off) and make necessary adjustments to ensure part conformance.
- Monitor the machining process and make real-time corrections to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Read and interpret complex technical drawings throughs strong knowledge of GD&T and blueprint reading
- Strong knowledge and use of measurement instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Maintain and verify machine calibration and troubleshoot any equipment issues
- Mentor and train CNC operators and CNC Senior Operators
- Suggest and collaborate with engineers and production team to optimize setup procedure, tooling and processes where opportunities are available
- Maintain accurate documentation of setup sheets, production logs, program updates and quality records.
- Participate in maintaining a clean and safe work environment
- Practice general housekeeping, including but not limited to, his/her work area, chip removal, floor areas, benches, storage areas to ensure a safe work environment
- Compliance with all company rules, policies, procedures and programs
- Follow established safety practices and regulations
- Ability to communicate effectively with peers, engineers, quality assurance and management
- Available for day and evening shifts as required
- Complete other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on CNC mill and lathe experience, including full setup and production.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and using precision measurement tools.
- Strong understanding of machining principles, materials, and tooling.
- Familiarity with G-code and CNC program editing is preferred.
- Experience working with tight tolerances in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Must be able to perform the physical demands of the position, including frequent walking throughout the facility, standing for extended periods, occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds, and pushing or pulling carts and equipment as required.
- Available for day and evening shifts as required.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with Fanuc, Mazak, Haas, or similar CNC controls.
- Experience with both custom, prototype and short-run to long-run production.
