Quality Specialist – LNG Storage, Loading, Utilities & Marine Construction at Brunel

Introduction

Brunel is seeking an experienced Quality Specialist – LNG Storage, Loading, Utilities & Marine Construction to support quality assurance activities across major construction scopes within a large-scale LNG development.

This role will focus on the quality management and assurance of LNG Storage & Loading facilities, Utilities infrastructure, Cooling Towers, Boil-Off Gas systems, Brownfield integration activities, and Marine works during construction. The successful candidate will work closely with project quality leadership, engineering teams, construction contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure quality requirements are effectively implemented, monitored, and continuously improved throughout project execution. The position places particular emphasis on defect prevention, risk-based quality management, contractor engagement, construction quality assurance, and readiness for commissioning and handover activities.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the project Quality Management System and Project Quality Plan.
• Promote a strong quality culture through visible leadership, proactive engagement, and a focus on defect prevention.
• Partner with EPC contractors and project teams to achieve quality objectives across LNG Storage & Loading, Utilities, Cooling Tower, Boil-Off Gas, Brownfield, and Marine construction scopes.
• Monitor, analyze, and report quality performance metrics, trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Support the development and implementation of risk-based quality management tools, including quality heat maps, alerts, and mitigation strategies.
• Participate in quality audits, assessments, inspections, and surveillance activities to verify compliance with project requirements.
• Review contractor deliverables, technical queries, deviation requests, inspection reports, and quality documentation.
• Ensure quality records, approvals, and project documentation are complete, accurate, and maintained in accordance with project procedures.
• Support contractor performance management and the resolution of quality concerns, deficiencies, and non-conformances.
• Contribute to risk management initiatives, including Bowtie analysis, quality risk mitigation, and barrier management activities.
• Support lessons learned programs, continuous improvement initiatives, and quality performance reviews.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, construction, completions, and commissioning teams to ensure quality requirements are integrated throughout project execution.
• Support technical integrity verification, commissioning readiness, turnover planning, and handover activities.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, subcontractors, and project partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 5-10 years of experience supporting major oil & gas, LNG, energy, or industrial construction projects.
• Minimum 5 years of direct quality assurance experience.
• Previous experience supporting construction quality activities on large capital projects.
• LNG project experience is strongly preferred.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or equivalent professional designation is considered an asset.
• Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining Quality Management Systems.
• Strong understanding of construction quality assurance processes, inspections, audits, quality documentation, and non-conformance management.
• Experience working within EPC contractor environments and large multidisciplinary project teams.
• Familiarity with LNG Storage & Loading facilities, Utilities systems, Cooling Towers, Boil-Off Gas systems, Brownfield modifications, and Marine infrastructure is highly desirable.
• Experience with risk management methodologies, including Bowtie analysis and mitigation planning.
• Strong knowledge of applicable industry standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment while maintaining a strong focus on quality and project delivery.
• Experience supporting commissioning, completions, turnover, and facility handover activities is considered a strong asset.
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
