Service Technician II at BOXX Modular (Canada)

We have a full-time position for Service Technician II in Langley, British Columbia.

The Service Technician II is a developing, intermediate-level technician within the BOXX Modular branch. This role is responsible for performing maintenance, repair, refurbishment, and configuration of modular rental units to support fleet readiness, quality standards, safety compliance, and cost efficiency.

The ideal candidate has a working knowledge of the role and independently completes routine technical tasks, while continuing to develop the skills and experience required to manage more complex and non-routine work. Work is assigned with established objectives, methods, and procedures, with regular progress discussions and guidance from more experienced team members or the supervisor.

The Service Technician II applies standard techniques and procedures, begins troubleshooting issues and identifying solutions, and contributes ideas to improve quality, safety, and operational efficiency. The role is expected to recognize when additional support is required and actively seek opportunities to expand technical and organizational knowledge.

Work is performed in the yard (outdoor environment), shop, and occasionally at customer sites.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform routine repairs, maintenance, and refurbishment of modular units, including structural, interior, and exterior work.
• Support unit reconfigurations based on customer specifications, including kitchenettes, washrooms, wall systems, framing, doors/windows, siding, and related components.
• Install and repair flooring, walls, exterior steel siding, windows, doors, moldings, and hardware.
• Perform general, rough, and finish carpentry and framing.
• Install kitchenettes, toilets, sinks, and related fixtures.
• Apply established techniques and procedures to troubleshoot and resolve routine technical issues, seeking guidance for more complex or non-routine work.
• Support service calls and customer-site work as required.
• Complete assigned work in accordance with established objectives, procedures, quality standards, and timelines.
• Maintain accurate and timely system documentation, including Fleet App submissions.
• Develop awareness of key operational measures, including Service Turnaround, Estimates vs. Actuals, and Repair & Maintenance cost per unit.
• Support material handling, inventory requirements, and coordination with other departments as required.
• Maintain yard and shop organization and cleanliness.
• Follow all Company safety standards, policies, reporting requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
• Participate in toolbox meetings, safety initiatives, and required safety training.
• Contribute ideas and suggestions to improve fleet condition, work processes, quality, safety, and cost efficiency.
• Work collaboratively with team members and share responsibility for assigned work and project outcomes.
• Demonstrate initiative by seeking feedback, asking questions, and continuing to develop technical and organizational knowledge.
• Other duties as required

Qualifications

• 2+ years of general construction, modular, or related trade experience.
• Working knowledge of carpentry, structural repairs, siding, finishing work, and basic plumbing fixture installation.
• Ability to independently complete routine technical tasks using established methods and procedures.
• Developing troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to recognize when additional guidance or technical support is required.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
• Ability to organize assigned work and manage priorities and timelines.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Experience in modular, trailer, or RV environments considered an asset.
• Valid Driver’s License with clean driving abstract required.
• Fall Protection, First Aid, and WHMIS certifications considered an asset.
• Forklift/tow motor or loader certification considered an asset.
• Fluent in English, both oral and written.

Working Conditions

• Work performed in yard (outdoor), shop, and occasional customer site environments.
• Exposure to varying weather conditions throughout the year.
• Fast-paced environment with changing priorities and deadlines.
• Occasional local travel to customer sites during work hours.

Physical Requirements'

• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including prolonged standing, bending, climbing, and repetitive movements.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
