A well-established General Contractor specializing in industrial and commercial construction is seeking an experienced

Senior Estimator to join their growing team.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in industrial and commercial estimating, with the ability to manage estimates from initial drawings and specifications through tender submission. This is an opportunity for an experienced estimator who is confident working with multiple trades, subcontractors, clients, and project stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical estimating skills, excellent attention to detail, and a strategic, business-minded approach to construction estimating. For the right individual, there is also potential for the role to develop into a Project Manager position.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for industrial and commercial construction projects
• Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and tender documents
• Complete quantity takeoffs and analyze labour, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations
• Identify project risks, exclusions, and opportunities during the estimating process
• Develop accurate and competitive bids while maintaining project profitability
• Participate in site visits and pre-tender meetings as required
• Work closely with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal project teams
• Review and challenge estimates to ensure accuracy and competitiveness
• Assist with project turnover from estimating to operations
• Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and industry partners
• Contribute to business development and identifying potential project opportunities

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction estimating experience
• Strong background with an industrial or commercial General Contractor
• Proven ability to estimate projects up to approximately $10M
• Strong ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
• Experience with quantity takeoffs and understanding of multiple construction trades
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and project requirements
• Experience working directly with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
• Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tenders and deadlines
• Strategic mindset with the confidence to question estimates, identify risks, and find opportunities
• Strong computer skills and familiarity with construction estimating software
