Mental Health and Substance Use Clinician | ICY at Interior Health Authority

We are currently looking for a relief full-time Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) Clinician to join the Mental Health Integrated Child Youth team based out of the Kootenay Boundary Office in Trail, B.C. This relief position is until May 1, 2028 or return of the incumbent.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate clinician who is passionate about supporting children, youth, and families experiencing substance use and concurrent mental health challenges. In this advanced practice role, you'll provide comprehensive assessment, evidence-based treatment, care coordination, and crisis response for young people with complex needs, working collaboratively within an Integrated Child & Youth multidisciplinary team. Success in this role requires expertise in trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate care, strong clinical judgment, and proficiency in evidence-based approaches such as Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT, and family-centred interventions. You'll build trusted relationships with youth and caregivers, advocate for access to community supports, and partner with schools, primary care providers, and community agencies to help improve outcomes across the continuum of care.

What will you work on?

The Substance Use Clinician functions as a member of the larger Hospitals & Communities Integrated Services (HCIS) health care team and as a member of a specific MHSU multi-disciplinary team whose purpose is to ensure that persons experiencing substance use problems/disorders or concurrent substance use and mental health problems have access to timely, responsive, evidence-based treatment and clinical supports across the continuum of available services.

The Substance Use Clinician provides, at the advanced practice level, assessment, treatment, service coordination and, as required, urgent response to the most complex clients, frequently with co-occurring disorders, who may also have serious functional impairment in the domains of physical health and personal, family, financial, occupational, and social life. The Substance Use Clinician functions as a primary clinician utilizing a variety of specialized treatment modalities/therapies for individuals, groups of clients and/or their families.

Scheduling Information

Shift times are from 08:30 to 16:30 hours. Shift types are days. Days of work are Monday to Friday.
