Business Development Manager at DMC Recruitment Group
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
Building Materials Manufacturer | Exterior Envelope
Ontario | Home-Based | U.S. Market
HIGH-GROWTH TERRITORY. ESTABLISHED BUSINESS. SIGNIFICANT OPPORTUNITY.
On behalf of our client, an established Canadian manufacturer of premium building products, we are looking for a Business Development Manager to support the company’s growth momentum across the U.S. market.
This is an opportunity to join a stable, organically growing Canadian manufacturer at an exciting point in its development. The business has built a strong reputation across North America for high-quality, design-forward and environmentally responsible materials used across high-end residential, institutional and specialized commercial projects.
The U.S. represents a significant growth market for the company, and importantly, you will not be starting from zero.
There is already an active project pipeline, established customer relationships and growing demand generated through the company’s A&D specification efforts and brand recognition. This newly created role will add another layer to that strategy, working directly with the contractors, builders, developers and project teams responsible for bringing those specifications and opportunities through to completion.
For someone who enjoys building a market, developing relationships and seeing the direct impact of their work, there is considerable room to grow here.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Business Development Manager will take ownership of developing opportunities across targeted U.S. markets, combining existing project activity with new business development.
You will work closely with contractors, builders, developers, project managers, distributors and other stakeholders throughout the construction process, becoming a trusted resource as projects move from specification through to execution.
This is a highly relationship-driven role. Success will come from understanding the market, being visible with customers, identifying where projects and opportunities are developing, and connecting the right people internally and externally to move business forward.
You will also work closely with colleagues responsible for the A&D specification channel, creating a coordinated approach between specification, project development and sales.
The position offers significant autonomy and visibility within the business, backed by an established manufacturer, experienced internal team and a product offering with a strong reputation in the market.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop new business across targeted U.S. markets within commercial, residential and institutional construction.
- Build and deepen relationships with contractors, builders, developers, project managers, distributors and other key industry partners.
- Support an existing pipeline of specified and active projects, helping convert market activity into revenue.
- Identify new projects, customers and strategic opportunities within the territory.
- Develop and execute territory plans focused on sustainable, long-term revenue growth.
- Conduct customer meetings, product presentations, site visits and hands-on demonstrations.
- Work closely with A&D, Marketing, Technical and Inside Sales colleagues to support projects and provide a seamless customer experience.
- Maintain a strong understanding of market activity, competitive products and regional construction trends.
- Maintain an organized pipeline and provide clear visibility into opportunities through the company’s CRM.
- Represent the company at relevant industry events, trade shows and networking opportunities.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who understands how building products are sold through a project-driven environment and enjoys developing business through relationships rather than transactional selling.
You Will Ideally Bring
- Proven success in sales or business development within building materials, construction products or a related industry.
- Experience working directly with contractors, builders, developers, project managers or other construction stakeholders.
- An understanding of how products move from specification and project identification through to purchase and installation.
- Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work comfortably with stakeholders at different levels of an organization.
- The ability to independently manage a large geographic territory and prioritize the opportunities that will create the greatest impact.
- A commercial mindset, curiosity and the confidence to identify and pursue new opportunities.
- Strong organization, territory planning and CRM discipline.
- Post-secondary education in Business, Marketing, Construction Management or a related discipline is an asset.
LOCATION & MARKET COVERAGE
This is a home-based position open to candidates across Ontario who have convenient access to an international airport (domestic or cross-border).
The role combines remote territory management with regular in-market customer and project activity across the United States. Travel will typically be concentrated into planned market visits, approximately one week/month in total, allowing the balance of the role to be managed from your home office in Ontario.
Candidates must hold a valid passport, driver’s licence and be able to travel within the United States without restriction.
WHY CONSIDER IT?
This is not a turnaround business or a territory that needs to be rescued.
You are joining a stable Canadian manufacturer that has grown organically by building a quality product, developing long-term customer relationships and earning a strong reputation in its market.
The opportunity now is growth.
The foundation is already there: strong products, active specifications, established relationships and demonstrated demand in the U.S. The company is investing in the next stage of that growth and looking for someone who wants the autonomy, responsibility and earning opportunity that comes with helping build it.
For the right person, there is significant runway to develop a significant career and earnings within this business.
