Heavy-Duty Mechanic at Resorts of the Canadian Rockies

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of resort vehicles, equipment, and tools.

This includes heavy-duty equipment, fleet vehicles, side-by-sides (UTVs), snowmobiles, lift engines, generators, and small engine equipment such as chainsaws and brush saws. The role plays an important part in keeping our equipment safe, reliable, and ready for resort operations throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair resort vehicles, equipment, and tools
  • Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Maintain and repair heavy equipment, snow cats, snowmobiles, UTVs, generators, and small engines
  • Complete maintenance records and prioritize daily work with minimal supervision
  • Work closely with the Maintenance Manager and resort teams
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized shop and work environment
  • Follow all OH&S, environmental, and resort safety policies
  • Assist with equipment maintenance planning and budgeting
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of Heavy-Duty Mechanic experience; Red Seal an asset
  • Experience with heavy equipment, snow cats, snowmobiles, and/or resort equipment is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and track systems
  • Experience with undercarriages, frames, implements, and welding is an asset
  • Comfortable using basic computer programs
  • Valid driver’s licence

Conditions

  • 4 days on / 3 days off, 10-hour shifts
  • Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and after-hours when emergency repairs are required
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Must be physically able to lift and handle equipment, use hand and power tools, and perform manual work for extended periods
  • Personal tools are required for standard work tasks; a tool allowance is provided
