WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Regional Field Technical Manager (FTM) serves as Hyundai Auto Canada’s field technical expert and liaison to the Hyundai and Genesis dealership network. The FTM provides advanced technical support for complex and escalated vehicle concerns, both remotely and through on-site dealership visits. Working closely with dealers, Technical Support (HyTAC), Customer Relations, and Quality Assurance, the FTM delivers expert diagnosis, root cause analysis, and technical coaching to improve the dealership service operations. The FTM also represents Hyundai Auto Canada in vehicle dispute resolution proceedings, including CAMVAP arbitrations, small claims court matters, and product liability investigations.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Provide advanced technical diagnosis and support for complex and escalated vehicle concerns originating from Technical Support (HyTAC), Customer Relations, Quality Assurance, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Perform vehicle inspections, testing, and root cause analysis, including collection and analysis of vehicle diagnostic data.
  • Build strong relationships with dealership technicians and service personnel to improve technician engagement, technical competency, and repair effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities to improve dealership technical performance and technician engagement, and provide coaching on diagnostic processes, repair strategies, and service operations through on-site support.
  • Represent Hyundai Auto Canada in CAMVAP arbitrations, small claims proceedings, product liability investigations, and other vehicle-related technical matters.
  • Assess technical assistance cases using escalation risk metrics and proactively resolve high-risk cases to the appropriate stakeholders, including HyTAC, Quality Assurance, and Global Service Support Center (GSSC), and other cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Hyundai and Genesis vehicle systems, diagnostic procedures, software updates, and emerging technologies, including electrified vehicle platforms.
  • Provide on-site support during field quality investigations, and other quality-related activities as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • College diploma in Automotive Service Technology, Automotive Mechanics, or related field.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in a similar technical automotive role.
  • Experience with an automotive manufacturer (OEM) or dealership service department preferred.
  • Fluently bilingual in English and French (written and spoken).
  • Excellent automotive diagnostic, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical decision-making abilities.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of automotive electrical systems, including in-depth experience with vehicle networks (CAN, LIN bus) as well as experience with xEV systems
  • Strong communication, technical writing, and customer service skills
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Able to travel on a regular basis.

OTHER DETAILS

  • Frequent driving and travel, including occasional overnight stays. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driver abstract
  • Regular travel throughout the Eastern Zone (Quebec) and Atlantic Zone (Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island) to support dealership operations, field investigations, training, and quality-related activities.
  • Ability to work outside standard business hours when required to support business needs

Hiring Range: $81,900-$105,000.

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.

Starting salary is typically offered in the lower to mid portion of the range, with placement determined by the successful candidate’s skills, experience, and internal equity considerations. Candidates with exceptional qualifications and directly relevant experience may be considered for compensation up to the maximum of the range.
