We are seeking a Tort Law Clerk with strong experience supporting complex litigation matters to join a results-driven and client-focused legal team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to work on sophisticated tort and civil litigation files within a supportive and high-performing environment. As a Tort Law Clerk, you will play a key role in managing files from inception through resolution, working closely with lawyers to ensure efficient file progression, accurate documentation, and strong client outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage tort litigation files from intake through settlement or trial
  • Draft and prepare pleadings, correspondence, motion materials, briefs, and other legal documents
  • Coordinate and review medical records, expert reports, witness statements, and other evidence
  • Prepare chronologies, liability and damages summaries, and litigation briefs
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, insurance adjusters, experts, and third parties
  • Schedule and coordinate discoveries, examinations, mediations, motions, and court dates
  • Maintain limitation deadlines, litigation schedules, and comprehensive file documentation
  • Assist lawyers with settlement negotiations, mediation preparation, and trial preparation
  • Prepare documentation and materials for discoveries, motions, hearings, and trials
  • Conduct legal and factual research as required
  • Ensure files are accurate, organized, up to date, and progressing efficiently

Qualifications

  • Diploma from an accredited Law Clerk program
  • 5+ years of experience in tort law
  • Strong knowledge of tort litigation procedures, pleadings, discovery, and court processes
  • Experience with medical documentation, expert evidence, liability, and damages matters
  • Excellent drafting, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage files independently and prioritize competing deadlines
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced litigation environment
  • Strong client service orientation and professional judgment
