Job Summary


AECOM, a premier, fully integrated global infrastructure firm is currently seeking Welder Helpers / Welder Apprentices to join our Fall Turnaround team at CNRL Horizon. This is a temporary role.


Project Details


  • Start date: September 11 and 16


  • Travel: Charter flights are provided from Calgary and Edmonton, and shuttle services from Fort McMurray or Surrounding areas


  • Accommodation: Camp accommodations are provided


  • Shift and Work Hours: Varies


  • Duration: 21 days straight


  • Overtime Eligibility: This position is overtime eligible

May include the following responsibilities


  • Join or sever metals in beams, girders, vessels, piping and other metal components


  • Assist welders in use of different welding processes and fillers depending upon the type of metal, its size and shape, and requirements for finished product strength.


  • Develop patterns for projects or follow directions given in layouts, blueprints and work orders; clean, check for defects and shape component parts, sometimes using a cutting torch weld parts together.


  • Assist welders in setting up equipment, preparing tools.


  • Any other task required by welders.

  1. For positions that fall into the list of required positions within the AECOM Oil & Gas Background Check policy, qualified applicants who are offered, and accept, the role must complete a satisfactory pre-employment Background Check. This may consist of all or a combination of the following: Canadian Criminal Record check, an Employment Verification and/or an Education and Accreditation Verification.


  2. Qualified applicants who are offered, and accept, a position must provide evidence of a satisfactory Alcohol & Drug test in accordance with the Company's Alcohol & Drug Policy. In order to be valid, the test must have been conducted at the direction of AECOM - O&G Business Unit.



Minimum Requirements


  • Registered Alberta Welder Apprentice or equivalent.


  • Construction Safety Training Systems - 09 (CSTS-09)


  • Confined Space ticket


  • Fall Protection ticket


  • Fire Watch Ticket
