Primoris Willbros Canada is an infrastructure contractor serving major firms in the oil, gas, power, petrochemical, and heavy oil industries and include services covering tailings and hydro-transport pipeline construction and maintenance, storage tank construction and maintenance, industrial facilities multi-discipline construction and maintenance, piping fabrication, and pipeline integrity services.


SUMMARY


The by-hand Welder will be responsible for following welding specifications for structural fabrication, through means of hand Welding, while adhering to and promoting HSE programs. The successful candidates should be comfortable with welding stick and fluxcore, with previous experience in tank erection (structural/nozzels/piping) considered an asset.


PROJECT DETAILS


Anticipated Start Date: September 25 or October 2 depending on project requirements


Duration: Up to December 2019


Shift: 14/7 – Fourteen days of work, followed by seven days off


Location: CNRL Horizon


Travel: Flights provided from Edmonton or Calgary


Accommodation: Camp to be provided by Client on site (Mackay during turnarounds and Cleanharbours oil sands camp during slower periods)


PRE-ACCESS REQUIREMENTS


Pre-access alcohol and drug (A&D) testing will be required within 10 business days of anticipated start date,


A weld test (SMAW) will be required to be completed in EDMONTON at the CLAC Weld Centre following completion of the A&D test, with a passing result received before the start date is confirmed (results take 3 - 4 business days).


REQUIRED SAFETY/TRADE TICKETS


  • Registered Alberta Apprentice or ticketed Journeyman Welder (or equivalent, as recognized by AIT)


  • CSTS-09 (completed prior to Jan 1/19) or CSO


  • H2S Alive


  • OSSA Fall Protection


  • OSSA Aerial/Elevated Work Platform (AWP or EWP)


  • OSSA Confined Space

Please note: DSP's/Contractors/Rig Welders will not be considered for these openings at this time.


  • Read and interpret welding process specifications


  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas metal arc (SMAW), flux-core arc (FCAW)


  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame cutting equipment


  • Weld components in flat, vertical or overhead positions


  • Heat, form and dress metal parts, using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment


  • Operate manual, semi-automatic or fully automated welding equipment for fusing of metal segments using process such as FCAW, and SMAW


  • Working in physically demanding surroundings, with inclement weather


  • Promote a safe work environment at all times


  • Various other duties as requested by management


  • Must possess a valid Journeyman Welding Certificate or be a registered apprentice (or equivalent as recognized by AIT)


  • Previous tank experience is considered an asset


  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs


  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License


  • Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Screening is a standard requirement for all Primoris craft positions


  • Ability to pass welding qualification test (SMAW)


  • Must provide required safety tickets as listed above
