The Role:

Reporting to the Area Manager, this varied and challenging position is focused on safety, sustainability, regulatory compliance and enhancing our customer experience. Responsible for planning and tracking all material movement for mining and processing both sand and gravel; limestone quarry operations; overburden and water management; environmental compliance and reclamation. This role will work with the Manager and other staff to align production, inventory and shipping requirements as well as pit optimization and the continuous search for additional reserves.

Who we are looking for:

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Business combined with five to ten years’ experience in construction materials operations

  • A mining professional looking for more than a simple limited scope of work who wants to work from greenfield to reclamation and deal with everything between.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety, environmental and mining regulations

  • Ability to foster teamwork though good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Able to work with regulators, consultants, contractors and staff

  • Able to track and plan multiple simultaneous projects

  • Strong technical and computer proficiency in MS Office, MS Project

  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills

  • Work with support staff for current and potential new mine sites including resource and reserve calculations, pit optimization, pitshells and haulage plans, overburden and waste stripping and placement plans, water management

  • Detailed material movement planning and tracking focusing on cost reduction and to ensure regulatory environmental compliance leading to reclamation certification

  • Assist in the search and evaluation of new reserves and potential acquisitions

  • Assisting with preparation of annual and five-year forecasts

  • Overseeing mine development and support mine operations

  • Lead and assist with staff activities on mine site

  • Assist in planning, evaluating and managing approved capital spending
