Environmental Health & Safety Internship:


As an environmental, health and safetymanagement intern, you will gain exposure to the development and implementationelements of our overall safety and/or environmental management systems thatsatisfy both internal and external requirements. You will be exposed toevaluation of trends, root cause analysis, the development/implementation ofbasic safety/ergonomics/EHS/environmental programs, departmental safetymeetings, compliance activities and corporate responsibility activities. Youmay interact with all levels of employees from production workers to toplocation and business leadership.


Responsibilities entail but are not limited to:


  • Create and update Physical Demand Descriptions for all positions in thefacility


  • Implement ergonomic lead initiatives to improve worker health andefficiency


  • Complete Pre- and Post- risk assessments of workstations


  • Implement a Job Rotation procedure using PDD data to quantifiably showrisk reduction


  • Create, revise and update Job Task Procedures


  • Complete injury statistical analysis to determine trends


  • Improve workplace conditioning engagement via hands on stretching andconditioning classes


  • Work alongside on-site physiotherapist, nurses, and safety team toenhance safe work practices and active living initiatives

Environment:


This role involves some physical activity in thefood processing environments, which generally requires some exertion on a limitedbasis lifting objects weighing more than 50 pounds. The work may alsoinvolve other exertions, conditions or exposures e.g. cold.


Internship Programming:


  • Cargill offers relocation reimbursementto interns who qualify (based on mileage).


  • Internships are paid and are at least 16weeks in duration.

Day–to-day transportation to and from work is the responsibility of the intern.


  • Interns who demonstrate exceptionalperformance and a curiosity to learn more may be offered a full-time positionfor the following year.

Qualifications


Required Qualifications:


  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree from an accreditedprogram in ergonomics/human factors, occupational safety, or a safety-relateddegree graduating between August 2020 and April 2023


  • Willingness to work 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift


  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill inCanada


  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures


  • All candidates must be geographically flexible and willing to relocate for an internship opportunity anywhere in the Canada.


  • Able to complete a 8-month co-op January 2020 August 2020


  • Overall 3.0 GPA or higher

Must possess a high degree of initiativeand resourcefulness in completing work with limited guidance
