POSITION OVERVIEW

Qikiqtani Industries Limited (QIL) is a 100% Inuit-owned company of Qikiqtaaluk Corporation and provides Inuit owned industrial capacity to companies and developers in the Canadian Arctic with primary focus on the mining, oil, and gas sector.

QIL is seeking a enthusiastic, driven, and hardworking candidate for a shipper/receiver position. The ideal candidate should be able to perform efficiently in a warehouse and dispatch environment by handling incoming and outgoing shipments. Candidates needs to instill productivity, urgency, conscientiousness, compliance and teamwork so that goods are efficiently and accurately received. Personal accountability, integrity is required, and the candidate should be able to work with minimum supervision.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This includes but is not limited to the following:

· Attend daily pre-shift safety toolbox meeting with surface works supervisor, on time and in uniform.

· Complete and keep on their person a FLRA booklet during shift.

· Participate in stretch and flex.

· Manage the shipment and receipt of all products, materials, and supplies.

· Send, accept and record the movements of supplies, materials, stock and parts to and from an establishment.

· Examine shipment contents and compare with records to verify accuracy of shipment

· Assemble container and crates, pack goods to be shipped, and prepare identifying information and shipping instructions.

· Oversee loading and unloading of goods from trucks etc.

· Unpack and route goods to appropriate storage areas.

· Develop and maintain an efficient filing system for all relevant paperwork.

· Implementing and complying with safety, security, housekeeping and sanitation programs.

· Know safe storage and handling procedures for various chemicals and materials.

· Use correct procedure for both manual material handling, and materials handling.

· Keep all work areas clear of clutter and equipment.

· Follow the recommended shift work pattern and be aware of the hazards.

· Follow the BIM (Baffinland Iron Mines Corporation) work policy at all times.

· Other duties as assigned by the Chef.

Minimum Requirements

· Must have 2+ year of previous shipping, logistics, shipper or warehouse experience.

· Ability to maintain high level of physicality for prolonged periods and working primarily standing.

· Ability to operate warehouse machinery and equipment.

· Must have good analytical and cognitive skills to manage the inventory and envision the layout of the stock.

· Must have a valid driver’s license with clean abstract.

· Must possess good computer skills (word, Excel, Outlook) etc.

· Dangerous good handling certification is considered an asset.

Schedule:

- 12 hour shift, 3 weeks Rotation - Fly in / out

Additional Information:

· This position may require pre-deployment TB test, medical questionnaire, criminal back ground check, etc.

- Online BIM orientation as well as on site BIM and QIL orientations are required.
- QIL uniform will be provided.
- Mandatory PPE will be provided. It is recommended however that an employee bring their own safety (CSA green patch and orange patch for electrical shock) footwear as this is a very personal fit/preference.
- This position reports to the Chef.
