Team Lead, Budgeting and Forecasting

As a key member of the Finance team, you will be responsible for planning, managing and executing all aspects of budgeting and forecasting for Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro, including consolidated budgets and forecasts for the organization. Critical aspects of the role include leadership and oversight of the Budget and Forecasting team, establishing and executing the timelines and processes for the budget and forecasting cycles, and detailed and in-depth, meaningful variance analysis to provide information to the leadership team. Oversight of the completion of financial statement projections including cash flow projections for presentation to various stakeholders is key. The budgeting and forecasting cycle for Hydro is an integral process the output of which forms part of the evidence used in General Rate Applications. You will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of Finance schedules and evidence in support of the GRA.

You will be responsible for overseeing the completion of various reports including the consolidated budget, consisting of both key financial and non-financial performance metrics, various regulatory reports and third party information reviews. Experience in consolidating budgets and forecasts for a complex organization is also required. Preparation of presentations and the ability to synthesize information is a key success factor.

Qualifications:

• A University Degree in Commerce or Business Administration and a recognized accounting designation (CA,CGA, CMA) or equivalent experience;
• 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in financial analysis and/or accounting, including supervisory experience;
• Appropriate working knowledge of GAAP / IFRS;
• Proven supervisory experience;
• Excellent analytical skills and problem solving abilities;
• Consolidation experience of a large diverse organization is required;
• Strong, team based, interpersonal skills to foster effective working relationships;
• Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills;
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task in fast paced, deadline driven environment, while dealing with highly sensitive and confidential information;
• Strong excel skills;
• Experience working with large enterprise systems such as JD Edwards and budgeting software would be beneficial.
