We are currently seeking a dedicated Inspector Monday-Friday from 6:45am-3:00pm to join our Shredder Department and contribute to our mission of responsible metal recycling. The Inspector will play a critical role in overseeing the inspection and quality control processes within the Shredder department. This position requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of ferrous/non ferrous metals, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

What you're responsible for:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of incoming and outgoing materials to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications
  • Identify and segregate non-conforming materials, such as contaminants or prohibited items, and take appropriate corrective actions
  • Utilize appropriate tools and equipment to measure and verify the weight, dimensions, and composition of ferrous materials
  • Collaborate with the operations team to coordinate the movement and storage of ferrous materials within the yard
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records of inventory levels, material conditions, and inspection findings
  • Communicate and report any deviations from quality standards, safety concerns, or operational issues to the supervisor or appropriate personnel
  • Follow established safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment
  • Assist in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives and contribute to process optimization


What you’re responsible for:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within the metal recycling industry, specifically in ferrous materials inspection, is highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, their properties, and common contaminants or impurities
  • Familiarity with relevant tools and equipment used for measurement and inspection, such as scales, callipers, magnet testers, etc.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to perform accurate and precise inspection
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting and moving heavy objects
  • Proficiency in using computer systems and software for data entry and record keeping
  • Effective communication skills to interact with team members, supervisors, and external stakeholders
  • Commitment to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
