Description

The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to other.

Kettle Runner position is a short-term contract position. The successful candidate is responsible for oversight of several Christmas Kettle locations in a given geographical zone area. Zone locations include shopping malls, grocery stores and retail outlets.

Hours

  • 2 -Temporary Full Time Positions Available:
  • up to 36 paid hours work per week (Mon thru Sat. 6 hrs. day)
  • One Day Time Position and One Evening Position in West Kelowna
  • Schedules will fluctuate and flexibility will be required
  • October 21, 2024 – December 24, 2024

Key Responsibilities

  • Must have a solid understanding of basic to intermediate computer operation including Microsoft 365 programs, data entry, internet browsers, and some file management and ability to create reports.
  • Be a positive and outgoing representative of The Salvation Army Okanagan Central.
  • Attend a day of training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign
  • Provide support in getting Kettles to zone locations prior to volunteer arrival at Campaign onset
  • Ensure all Kettle donations are delivered to secure location at shift completion
  • Communicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to Volunteer and Kettle Coordinator
  • Provide training to and the orientation of volunteers assuring proper Kettle handling and duties as required
  • Delivers and picks-up kettles and/or supplies to kettle sites daily as required.
  • Make scheduled and unscheduled safety checks at kettle sites assuring policies and protocols are adhered to.
  • Troubleshoots issues with kettle stands and tap devices, e.g. kettle hardware, battery issues, etc.
  • Ensure timesheets and mileage reports are submitted accurately and timely (bi-weekly basis)
  • Respond to questions/queries from volunteers and site hosts.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications And Education Requirements

  • The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills, strong computer skills including Microsoft Office programs.
  • Will also have completed High School, plus specialized courses of up to six (6) months.

Preferred Skills/Capabilities

  • The successful candidate must have at least one-year prior related experience, including life skills, computer competency and leadership skills.

NOTE: An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable.

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:

  • Background check consent
  • A clear vulnerable sector screening
  • A clean drivers abstract
  • Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training
