Job Summary
Reporting to the Supervisor, Employment Services, this position is responsible for building relationships with employers and community agencies in the Halton Community, as well as, conducting assessments, follow ups, and monitoring of job placements.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develops relationships with employers and community agencies through actively identifying prospective employer and community partners, promoting program involvement and securing participation.
- Promotes program participants and assists employers to secure the most suitable candidate.
- Screens and refers active job seekers for internal and external training/employment/placement opportunities.
- Evaluates the work site to establish that general safety conditions and suitability for the participant group are in place.
- Coordinates opportunities for employers and community agencies to participate in various aspects of Regional Programs (Job Fairs, Employer Panels, Mock Interviews, and presentations).
- Follows up on exit plans and provides post program support to participants.
- Intensively supports participants to maintain employment through job task analysis/identification and assist participants with strategies to be successful.
- Maintains regular and consistent follow up through weekly contact with the employers/community agencies and participants to monitor the placement and problem solve/trouble shoot when necessary.
- Deliver orientation sessions, workshops and other employability skills training for job seekers.
- Assess job seekers to determine barriers to employment, career interests/goals, training eligibility and labour market re-integration potential.
- Assist job seekers, through the development/ creation of a resume, mock interviews, skills testing etc. to prepare for referral and application for employment/placement opportunities.
- Engage, support, guide and follow-up with job seekers in retention
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral or Social Sciences or a Community College Social Services Worker Diploma.
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years related experience in the employment field with a primary focus on developing relationships with clients.
- Excellent knowledge of vocational and employment counseling/ interviewing techniques, identification of employment barriers and employment action planning.
- Proven ability to learn, organize thought and employ a variety of solutions and superior interpersonal skills including good listening, verbal and written communication.
- Working knowledge of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).
- Ability to provide high quality customer centered services.
- Ability to operate within a highly ethical environment and be accountable for going the extra mile, listening to your customers, creatively meeting needs and always being respectful to those you serve.

- An understanding of the Ontario Works Act, Employment Standards Act, and Human Rights Legislation.
- Experience with Microsoft Office is a requirement, and knowledge of Social Assistance Management System SAMS.
Working Conditions
- Travel will be required, incumbent must provide their own transportation.

- Current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen, by the first day of employment.
