Dessert Holdings is looking for a Human Resources Generalist to join our team based in Delta, British Columbia to support HR tasks and objectives to foster an employee-oriented, high performance culture emphasizing engagement, productivity, quality and the ongoing development of a superior workforce. Reporting to the Senior HR Manager, this position is responsible for supporting the HR team, HR policies and programs, Employee Relations, general HR activities, Performance Management, and HR administration, while ensuring that the organization is in full compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This position will work closely with the Union and the facility leadership team.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide high-quality advice and support to management on daily employee relations matters and performance management issues
  • Support the HR department in implementing programs to help improve the employee experience and engagement
  • Provide guidance to employees regarding Employment Standards and federal employment programs
  • Ensure compliance with labour regulations and Collective Bargaining Agreement and participate in meetings with the Union
  • Provide exceptional employee support related to various employee concerns and requests
  • Proven experience in conflict resolution and mediation of employee concerns
  • Complete management of WCB claims, investigating, submitting paperwork/forms and maintaining correspondence with all parties regarding claim management and return to work plans
  • Enhance job satisfaction by resolving issues promptly, applying new perks and benefits, and organizing team building activities
  • Participate and support recruitment – source, screen, and interview candidates for various hourly production and administrative roles and prepare and present offer letters
  • Prepare termination and severance letters
  • Conduct employee onboarding and assist with training & development initiatives
  • Maintain confidentiality, employee files and records in electronic and paper form


QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Post-secondary education: bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Resources or related field
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in HR, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • CPHR designation preferred or working towards certification
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Experience working in a Unionized environment
  • Capable of understanding and interpreting the Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills
  • Excellent decision making and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Proficient knowledge of HR functions and best practices
