As the Estimator, you will play a crucial role in accurately determining the costs of landscape projects, including material, labour, and equipment, and creating comprehensive bids and proposals for clients. You will collaborate closely with maintenance and construction managers to understand the full scope of each project and ensure it is accurately reflected in the project estimate.

Hourly Wage: $27-$35/hr depending on experience (Permanent Full Time)

Work Shift: Mon-Fri, 8:00am-4:30pm

Duties:

  • Analyze project requirements to estimate the costs of materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor services.
  • Develop comprehensive and accurate bid proposals for landscape projects.
  • Assess project blueprints, drawings, and specifications to understand scope and ensure accurate costing.
  • Work with internal teams to align bids with client needs and company capabilities.
  • Source quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, negotiate pricing and ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Meet with clients to clarify project needs, specifications, and expectations to ensure accuracy in estimates.
  • Revise cost estimates when project scope changes, ensuring profitability and accuracy.
  • Maintain documentation of estimates, bid progress, and project costs for future reference and reporting.
  • Ensure all estimates comply with legal requirements, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Leading the pre-project process including bid documents, bonding and insurance, cost estimates, and pre-qualification proposals.

Job Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years of similar professional experience.
  • Bachelors degree in landscape architecture, construction management, or a related field (preferred but not required)
  • Strong knowledge of planting zone 8 and zone 9.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications; knowledge of landscaping materials, techniques, and equipment.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (LMN) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Strong abilities in prioritizing and managing time effectively.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English communication.
  • Dependable team player with a proactive attitude to anticipate company requirements.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Reliable vehicle to get to and from job sites.
