The Opportunity: As a member of the FSQA team, the Internal Audits and Claims Specialist is accountable for the development, verification, and execution of Food Safety and Quality Assurance Programs, including those related to the management of integrity of claims. The Internal Audits and Claims Specialist is a key member of the London Poultry Team and is responsible for overseeing the plant level Internal Auditing program and driving continuous improvement in a fast paced and demanding environment. Additionally, the Internal Audits and Claims Specialist will establish and maintain positive relationships with the various auditing and regulatory bodies.

  • Execute plants Internal audit and claim verification programs
  • Prepare for and participate in and drive corrective action plans for BRC, Customer, and Animal Welfare audits
  • Prepare and lead and drive corrective action plans for Maple Leaf internal audit
  • Actively participate in ongoing monthly meetings, including the Food Safety Meeting
  • Execute various initiatives to improve the quality and safety of our process and products
  • Ensure that critical food safety and quality data is tracked and trended for process understanding and continuous improvement purposes
  • Assist with investigation of complaints, develop and submit responses for customer complaints and consumer.
  • Assist with Non-Compliance Reports (Deviations) and in-house disposition of materials placed On Hold including completing Risk Assessments to determine product disposition.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating current HACCP system, BRC and business unit Food Safety and Quality programs and/or SOPs
  • Assist with follow up and issue any corrective actions, if necessary, based on deviations found in plant process or resulting from customer complaints or audits
  • Assists with internal audits to comply with pre-requisites programs, HACCP plans, BRC and customer requirements.
  • Verification of the monitors and paperwork
  • Developing a constructive work environment through excellent interpersonal, team building skills, open communications, encouraging input and constructive performance management
  • Assist with Animal Welfare compliance
  • Actively participate in facility leadership meetings.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor of Science or Diploma in Food Safety/Science program or equivalent experience
  • Understanding of Sanitation, HACCP, CCP’s and GMP’s
  • Solid understanding of Animal Welfare best practices
  • Strong leadership skills
  • 3-5 years’ experience in the Food industry preferred
  • Ability to work effectively on a cross functional leadership team.
  • Experience thriving in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated alignment to the Maple Leaf Leadership Values.
