We’re on the hunt for a Junior Systems Engineer in our Geointelligence Engineering Team at our Richmond office.

Our mission is to turn data into insight. From detecting changes in fragile ecosystems to monitoring northern ice floes and shipping routes, our near-real time data of Earth observation and the environment makes our Geointelligence team a leader in geospatial imagery, ground stations, enterprise geospatial systems and defence programs.

As a member of the Engineering team you will work on our programs such as Chorus Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Satellite, Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC), Square Kilometer Array (SKA) radio telescope, Aeronautical Navigation products, and Marine Insights products. You will work as part of a technical team to develop new capabilities, enhance existing capabilities and deliver solutions to our customers.

Intermediate Engineer – Systems Security

Role

As part of the Systems Engineering team, the individual will work with other engineers in a multi-disciplinary team environment to create and deliver engineering solutions to our customers in a cost-effective way.

Responsibilities

As a Intermediate Engineer – Systems Security, you may have a wide range of responsibilities that include:

  • Developing security related artefacts supporting secure systems development;
  • Investigation and analysis of security tools for use in the development, assessment and test of secure systems;
  • Investigation and integration of tools and technologies to be incorporated into the MDA DevOps environments;
  • Tracing customer requirements to conceptual designs and preparing associated documentation (e.g. specifications, test plans, reports);
  • Support threat-risk assessments;
  • Work with development and operational staff to coordinate network vulnerability and compliance scanning;
  • Apply knowledge of IT infrastructure to facilitate the process of evaluating security risks and controls;
  • Evaluating, analyzing, developing, testing, and recommending specific solutions in response to specific security guidelines or industry best practices;
  • Working hands on in a lab and integration environment;
  • Supporting work planning and cost estimates during at many points in the project lifecycle; and
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of the security environment and the associated infrastructure.

You will support intermediate and senior engineers in the above tasks and have opportunities for career growth.

Required Experience

  • Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science
  • Have familiarity with:
  • One or more of these areas: Network Security principles and practice, Vulnerability Analysis, Threat Risk Assessment, Threat Modelling, Operating System Hardening;
  • One or more of the following products: Microsoft Enterprise network suite of software, Alientvault, Nessus, VMware vSphere, ESXi & vCenter,
  • SAST and DAST tools;
  • DevOps tools and processes; and
  • Information Security best practices;
  • Possess excellent problem solving skills;
  • Be a self-starter with the ability to perform in a dynamic working environment; and
  • Have a team-friendly attitude and willingness to learn.

Comments/Special Considerations

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the SECRET status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).

The compensation range for this position is $70,000 - $93,000 annually. The specific compensation offered will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
