Responsibilities

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Assists in providing financial and business advisory services to assigned clients and projects; review and analyze departmental and corporate statistical, cost and revenue information, as well as, contribute in assessing operational performance and supports clients in preparing their assigned operating and capital budgets.

Key Accountabilities

Provides technical and analytical data needed for the development and reporting of annual operating budget, capital program, 10-Year Investment plan and quarterly forecasts.

Ensures corporate procedures are adhered to by providing guidance, advice and training to either project or departmental managers on financial controls and related issues. Raises any concerns from the stakeholders and brings them to the attention of the supervisor for resolution.

Monitors, analyzes, tracks and makes recommendations related to operating and capital receipt and disbursement and liaises with respective departments in order to reconcile appropriate information and invoices as required.

Provides internal control check for completeness, accuracy and proper signoff of project forms and invoices; ensures that all red flags are highlighted and adequate closure is obtained.

Assists with compilation and preparation of financial information for operating and capital reporting and/or to address ad hoc departmental and capital information requirements; gathers and monitors information to support the subsequent claims for partnership funding.

Participates as a team member on special projects, including development and enhancement of systems, procedures and processes.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The competencies of this position would typically be acquired through completion of a degree in business with completion of an accounting designation and 4 years’ related experience in a large complex organization.

Other Requirements

Solid knowledge of GAAP and project accounting with strong analytical skills to monitor and track costs

Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to discuss and explain capital and operational issues to departmental and project managers

Solid time management, organizational skills to be able to coordinate reporting activities for multiple projects and department managers with tight deadlines.

Working knowledge of PSAB accounting standards and preferably general understanding of TransLink’s governance legislation

Proficiency on all office software, including solid Excel and PowerPoint skills.

Other Information

Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.

Work Schedule

37.5 hours per week.

Work Designation

Hybrid

This position offers the flexibility of working both on-site and remotely within B.C.

Rate of Pay

Salary $75,600 - $113,400 per annum (Actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity).
