Location
This is a remote/hybrid position. You can work from home and be located anywhere in Canada. Please note if you are located in Ottawa, Canada we work a hybrid schedule where you will be expected to be in office 4 days per week.
About The Team
The Director, Total Rewards, as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert, brings a depth and breadth of knowledge and expertise in leading, directing and developing the overall strategy, operations and delivery of our global total rewards policies and programs.
The Director, Total Rewards provides leadership and direction to a core team in the delivery and integration of executive compensation, global compensation, sales compensation, short-term and long-term incentive programs, global benefits and leaves programs, job architecture, and organizational design. The incumbent and their team work in partnership with Talent and Acquisition, HR Services, Talent Management, DEI, and HR Business Partnering to assess needs and build and deliver Total Rewards solutions that align with and support the company’s employment value proposition and

About The Team
The Director, Total Rewards, as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert, brings a depth and breadth of knowledge and expertise in leading, directing and developing the overall strategy, operations and delivery of our global total rewards policies and programs.
The Director, Total Rewards provides leadership and direction to a core team in the delivery and integration of executive compensation, global compensation, sales compensation, short-term and long-term incentive programs, global benefits and leaves programs, job architecture, and organizational design. The incumbent and their team work in partnership with Talent and Acquisition, HR Services, Talent Management, DEI, and HR Business Partnering to assess needs and build and deliver Total Rewards solutions that align with and support the company’s employment value proposition and
What you will do
- Design, implement and execute total rewards programs and related processes, ensuring effective communication, adoption, measurability, and alignment with overall corporate strategy and vision.
- Conduct complex analyses and prepare materials for Executive audiences, including our Board of Directors, which are used for public company filings.
- Conduct competitive market analyses and research and ensure that leading practices in all jurisdictions that we operate in are embedded in total rewards programs and offerings; stay current on emerging trends and continuously identify opportunities and gaps.
- Develop and administer executive compensation programs, including equity-based compensation, deferred compensation, and executive perks.
- Develop and maintain the organization's salary structure, including job evaluation, salary surveys, and analysis to ensure competitiveness in the market as well as internal equity
- Research and negotiate with 3rd party vendors and service providers to ensure the organization has access to the best practice tools and resources.
- Participate in global M&A activities, including consultation and collaboration with legal services and internal partners on the integration of country-specific legislation and onboarding requirements as they related to Total Rewards
- Bring a deep awareness of potential risks and impacts to total rewards programs and consult with stakeholders across the organization to develop appropriate strategies and measures to manage systems, program, or operational change
- Ensure effective communication and training strategies are in place to support the development and implementation of new or revised total rewards related programs, policies, and processes.
- Address employee inquiries and concerns related to compensation and benefits, resolving issues in a timely and effective manner
- Participate in cross functional committees to develop creative approaches in best practice.
- Collaborate with finance and senior leadership to develop and manage the compensation and benefits budget, including forecasting future costs and making recommendations for budget adjustments as needed
- University degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience supporting, designing, implementing and executing total rewards programs in high growth, global companies, preferably in the technology sector.
- 3+ years of experience leading a team responsible for the development and operation of total rewards programs.
- Demonstrated financial acumen and expertise in data and financial modeling and scenario planning
- Advanced analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills with the ability to coordinate input from multiple sources to develop impactful recommendations to achieve results for the business.
- An articulate and professional communicator with the ability to provide clear, concise messaging to multiple audiences and present complex information across the organization.
- Strong relationship-building and influencing skills and the ability to prioritize business requirements appropriately through a collaborative partnership approach
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate input from multiple complex sources, conduct environmental scanning, and sort through ambiguity to develop impactful recommendations for business decisions
