Salary Range: $40.36 - $56.30 /hour

A challenging and exciting opportunity exists to work in a collaborative interprofessional environment delivering occupational therapy services to rehabilitation patients in a specialized rehabilitation setting. This is an ideal opportunity for an occupational therapist that wants to be part of a team of rehabilitation practitioners who are considered leaders in the delivery of rehabilitative care and to actively participate in improving the outcomes of the patients we serve and to the health care system as a whole.

The current assignment is for NeuroTrauma Rehabilitation (NTR) Services. NTR is a fee-for-service program which serves individuals 16 years of age and older who experience neurological trauma from accident or disease (examples include acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury and multi-trauma). Payers include motor vehicle insurers, WSIB, Department of National Defence and self-pay. Services will be provided in accordance with the Employer's Standards for Business Conduct and all FSRA Licensing Regulations.

It is understood that the hours of work reflect the current scheduling arrangements and are subject to change as determined by the Employer.

Essential Qualifications

  • Valid registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Applicants must have a demonstrated knowledge base in the provision of service to neurological patients
  • Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
  • Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Excellent organizational, time management, critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Must be capable of establishing positive interpersonal relationships and able to work as an effective team member
  • Demonstrated experience using a patient-centered approach
  • Self-directed, self-motivated to accomplish specified outcomes
  • Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice
  • Knowledge of and ability to mobilize community resources
  • Experience in the development of teaching materials and the teaching of clients, family, and caregivers
  • Working knowledge and experience with theories and principles of guiding adult learning and patient self-management approaches
  • Proven flexibility and a high level of initiative
  • Familiarity with outcome measurement related to clinical practice
  • Flexibility in adapting to varying caseload needs
  • Ability to travel within the catchment area

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in French would be an asset
  • Assistive Devices Program (ADP) Authorizer
  • Experience with vocational rehabilitation
  • Minimum of 2 years full time related experience as an Occupational Therapist working in the area of automobile insurance and WSIB.
  • Experience in both hospital and community service delivery
  • Able to complete cognitive demands analysis and physical demands analysis assessments
  • Demonstrated experience with vocational rehabilitation
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and direct support personnel
  • Demonstrated experience with HCAI and SABS
  • Experience in driving assessment

Immunization Requirements

  • Provide documentation you have received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine (primary series, boosters and/or XBB) OR one dose of XBB vaccine at least 14 days prior to the start date.
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox)
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
